I just read about ten articles on Hinz from Nebraska. He looks to be the absolute beast that we love on the O Line. He has all the major schools in the Big 12 after him. Our O line looks like it has a bright future. Lets get a few more RAMS.

I really like how our WR corps is shaping up - Wahlo Jr. and Calhoun are two guys I'm looking to see big things from next year. I really like Gebhart as well, I think the receivers might be a bit more potent next season especially with Mohler having all offseason to sharpen up (if he is indeed starting next season).
Given who we're losing and what are weaknesses were this season, shooting for LBs, D- and o-liners seem like the right call. WRs, HBs, FBs, and QB is...well, in all except one case, at least sufficient for now (obviously HB is the exception, I think.).
We have a pretty sharp-looking class, but then Mertens was one of the best QBs coming out of MN. Hate to be the pessimist, so I won't be - really looking forward to see the team next year.
The only thing about JUCO's, it's hard for them to come in and make an impact from day one, and the ones that can make an impact right away are going to FBS schools. Look at the 5 JUCO's who were new to the program this year, Mack and Gatlin were marginal at best, Woods got hurt, and Perez and I assume Rogers are redshirting. Tough thing to do.
If we could get a stud JUCO or 2, I would want a LB or CB first...OL even though we are losing alot is the least of my worries, Fuchs will have those boys ready to play, the WR's started coming around towards the end of the year, not to mention Woods, Rogers, Powell-Calhoun, and Wahlo will all be in the mix next season...
As great as the season is, and game days...this is my FAVORITE time of the year! Between following FSU and NDSU recruiting this winter will be fun. I have a feeling that our lack of depth and possible immidiate playing time on defense will get us some very good recruits this season, playing time speaks volumes to kids, and they know that if they produce on this level they will get their shot in the league.
Its Recruiting Season boys!
The defensive secondary, linebacker, and OL are areas of immediate need. Others have emphasized the problems at CB, but our safeties are absolutely brutal. Some potentially good football players are not in the right positions. I still think Jemison should be a safety. Josh Horner should be a CB (he made a couple nice tackles on the kickoff team Saturday). I'm beyond tired of opposing receivers running crossing routes with absolutely no fear. Punter and kicker are also needs.
Hinz could play on either side of the ball. The Bison need to start putting their best athletes on defense. I have a hunch that the Hinz will be a defensive lineman. Tom Lemming says: http://tomlemming.blogspot.com/2009/...prospects.html
Quote:
DL •• Jesse Hinz 6-4, 275, 5.0 Beatrice
If you go by high school film then Jesse is, without a doubt, the #1 DL prospect in the state.
On Film–He is a dominator who works hard. He shows very good strength at the point of attack playing both DE and DT. He moves very well in a straight line and can apply pressure on the QB. He also works hard in gaining an edge and you can tell he puts great effort into playing, weight lifting, and studying films.
Stats–Earned 2nd Team All-State honors for his play at DL.
Grades–His GPA is over 3.0.
I agree about our safety play...I am crossing my fingers that Ollman can make an impact there next season. Jemison moving to safety is something I never thought about, but our depth at LB prevents it at the moment. And all I can say about Horner is he damn well better see the field more than just special teams, kid busts his butt, plays with energy, all the things you like to see from a player.
necessity... i want a speedy pash rusher a la Christian Dallas... also a LB would be nice to complement Evans and Jemison. Maybe some kind of secondary JUCO either corner or safety. Also, I think our starters for O-Line will be solid but we absolutely need some depth there. Would be nice to get a JUCO/transfer there as well. We normally dont bring in a lot of JUCOS but I think this year it is a must to bring in some at multiple positions.
Another QB out of Wisconsin?
Joel Stave whose dad is from ND:

Star Tribune had the All Metro Football team announced today.
Wayzata LB/WE AJ Tarpley was voted Player of the year although most everyone recognizes Hendeson as the state's best football player, but I guess O=Lineman don't win too many awards. Tarpley is going to Stanford.

Arizona is a hidden gem. Some good football down there. Most of the Zona and Zona St. recruits are Cali kids anyways so we may as well try and steal some recruits from down there
Looks like we can add Andy Pfeiffer to the Verbal list
http://www.areavoices.com/bisonmedia/
I know it's not a 40 time but here's a time I found for Andy in the 100. Who's a track guy, is this good for a safety?
100M: 11.84
200M: 24.31
DEFENSIVE BACKS
First Team
Michael Trotter, Milwaukee Marquette, 6-1 205 Sr.
Jordan Fredrick, Madison Memorial, 6-3 200 Jr.
Colten Heagle, Kimberly, 6-0 185 Sr.
That was a cut and paste. First team all stater out of Wisconsin. Congrats to Colten!!! Looks like a bright future...and boy do we need D-backs!
Actually, he ran an 11.5 last spring. I don't think he's a track guy, but he has some speed. The 100 relies more on reaction time and technique coming out of the blocks, while the 4o is all about pure speed since the watch starts when the runner starts running and not the other way around like in track. If he can run an 11.5 his 40 time would be around 4.7.
Thanks. That's good info.
6'0"
190 lbs
4.7 speed
He has pretty good measureables. Sounds like he is excited about the school and program. I like the fact that the coaches are looking at guys in positions they aren't playing in high school. It tells me they are turning over all the rocks to see who the best guys are. Good sign in my opinion.
ahhh ya whatever ok,,,,,, my opinion is if you get a guy from your hometown to make it to the NFL and get a superbowl ring the rest of the schools in town are going to know about it and you are going to know how he got there. That school comes calling you are going to listen.
This is from a Wisconsin kid who has several offers, including one from us. He states that if Central Michigan offers, he will accept on the spot. Loves the school, etc.

Costigan also had nothing but great things to say about Central Michigan as a program.
"Coach (Mike) Bajakian and coach (Don) Mahoney have been keeping in touch with me and keeping me up to date with the program. The program's success over the years is what really drew me there."
As of right now Costigan does not have an offer from the Chippewa's but said he would commit on the spot if CMU offered.
"If Central were to offer me they would have a strong commitment from me."
[quote=westnodak93bison;327671]dont see NDSU mentioned here?[/q
NDSU was, but they changed his schools list.
