I just read about ten articles on Hinz from Nebraska. He looks to be the absolute beast that we love on the O Line. He has all the major schools in the Big 12 after him. Our O line looks like it has a bright future. Lets get a few more RAMS.
Everyone just relax, all right? Believe me, if there's one thing Ron Burgundy knows, it's women.

I would be for a few JUCO's, probably at least a LB and a CB. Maybe look for a transfer on the OL. I think we will be good at WR next year though.

I really like how our WR corps is shaping up - Wahlo Jr. and Calhoun are two guys I'm looking to see big things from next year. I really like Gebhart as well, I think the receivers might be a bit more potent next season especially with Mohler having all offseason to sharpen up (if he is indeed starting next season).

Given who we're losing and what are weaknesses were this season, shooting for LBs, D- and o-liners seem like the right call. WRs, HBs, FBs, and QB is...well, in all except one case, at least sufficient for now (obviously HB is the exception, I think.).

We have a pretty sharp-looking class, but then Mertens was one of the best QBs coming out of MN. Hate to be the pessimist, so I won't be - really looking forward to see the team next year.

The only thing about JUCO's, it's hard for them to come in and make an impact from day one, and the ones that can make an impact right away are going to FBS schools. Look at the 5 JUCO's who were new to the program this year, Mack and Gatlin were marginal at best, Woods got hurt, and Perez and I assume Rogers are redshirting. Tough thing to do.

If we could get a stud JUCO or 2, I would want a LB or CB first...OL even though we are losing alot is the least of my worries, Fuchs will have those boys ready to play, the WR's started coming around towards the end of the year, not to mention Woods, Rogers, Powell-Calhoun, and Wahlo will all be in the mix next season...

Anybody care to evaluate what positions we still need to target?

Sounds like 22 scholarships available. 12 verbals already.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

I think based on the rivals reviews I have done, it looks like Linebacker, Corner, Offensive Line are our main targets. Looks like a few QB's still have alot of NDSU interest. Also looks like Arizona has more of a presense this year. I predict Nebraska to send us a few kids this year. We typically have been getting about 1 per class. Looks like alot more showing interest this year.

It is a fun time of the year...especially when you are 3-8 and begging for anything positive. I have no clue how other schools can poke fun at us having 12 verbals already. They are mentioning it like it is some type of a negative. It may be if we only had 12 to give...but we have 10 left. We got some great early talent to verbal.

    GO BISON
As great as the season is, and game days...this is my FAVORITE time of the year! Between following FSU and NDSU recruiting this winter will be fun. I have a feeling that our lack of depth and possible immidiate playing time on defense will get us some very good recruits this season, playing time speaks volumes to kids, and they know that if they produce on this level they will get their shot in the league.

    Its Recruiting Season boys!

The defensive secondary, linebacker, and OL are areas of immediate need. Others have emphasized the problems at CB, but our safeties are absolutely brutal. Some potentially good football players are not in the right positions. I still think Jemison should be a safety. Josh Horner should be a CB (he made a couple nice tackles on the kickoff team Saturday). I'm beyond tired of opposing receivers running crossing routes with absolutely no fear. Punter and kicker are also needs.

Hinz could play on either side of the ball. The Bison need to start putting their best athletes on defense. I have a hunch that the Hinz will be a defensive lineman. Tom Lemming says: http://tomlemming.blogspot.com/2009/...prospects.html

    DL •• Jesse Hinz 6-4, 275, 5.0 Beatrice
If you go by high school film then Jesse is, without a doubt, the #1 DL prospect in the state.
On Film–He is a dominator who works hard. He shows very good strength at the point of attack playing both DE and DT. He moves very well in a straight line and can apply pressure on the QB. He also works hard in gaining an edge and you can tell he puts great effort into playing, weight lifting, and studying films.
Stats–Earned 2nd Team All-State honors for his play at DL.
    Grades–His GPA is over 3.0.

I agree about our safety play...I am crossing my fingers that Ollman can make an impact there next season. Jemison moving to safety is something I never thought about, but our depth at LB prevents it at the moment. And all I can say about Horner is he damn well better see the field more than just special teams, kid busts his butt, plays with energy, all the things you like to see from a player.

necessity... i want a speedy pash rusher a la Christian Dallas... also a LB would be nice to complement Evans and Jemison. Maybe some kind of secondary JUCO either corner or safety. Also, I think our starters for O-Line will be solid but we absolutely need some depth there. Would be nice to get a JUCO/transfer there as well. We normally dont bring in a lot of JUCOS but I think this year it is a must to bring in some at multiple positions.
