Play callers have one or two fewer plays they can call when they know that it just can't be executed.
Don't know. I'm not much of an xo person but that seems like the place to start to me. And for sure if you are trying to run through the A gap and not getting at least a couple of yards to begin with then there is perhaps no reason to believe you are going to be getting the 4 and 5 in the third and fourth like we used to do, so try calling something else.
That's a very good point. The oline definitely had some growing pains. Hopefully they are much improved this fall. I think another issue was when Zeb started flinging interceptions and putting a young defense in bad situations the coaching staff got way too conservative with the play calling. That doesn't work too well when you don't have much of a running game or very many running backs to speak of either. In turn you're just not putting the team in the best situation to be successful especially on early downs. Too many 3rd and long or obvious passing situations. Just a lot of issues with this spring fiasco.

Doesn’t help when the Olone coach leaves right before season

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
It's too bad Grey Zabel went down with the broken leg. He was on his way to a very stellar season and soon to be anchor of the oline. Speaking of which, does anyone know how the rehad is coming along?

Not sure on rehab, but can’t be stated more strongly IMO that all of our players need Kramer conditioning. That’s not saying they haven’t been working hard, but the last several seasons of Natty’s/deep playoff runs have caught up to us when it comes to offseason training. Everyone talks about the additional reps, etc., but the smaller calendar to lift and condition is huge, and other teams have had that opportunity. I’ll reference SDSU’s Oline as an example.

Talked to a team Dr. at the FCC. He said Zabel will be OK in the fall.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
Who was the last true freshman to start at qb for NDSU? Who was the last Trfr qb to play really well? The last 4 guys all had time to learn the system and had great mentors with the exception of Brock who had no player mentor. It’s a lot to ask of a kid straight out of HS.

Bentrim, I think. Ryan Johnson played a bit as a true freshman.
Considering that transfers are uncommon at NDSU and were even rarer back in the day, we're talking a very small sample size. I thought Staus did a pretty good job. Stacy Robinson transferred as a QB and ended up in the NFL as a WR so there's that.

Yea, so pretty unprecedented, especially with the west coast offense. My overall point is people are being way too hard on Miller. Not that I think he’s gonna be a super stud like the last guys but I wouldn’t pencil him in as a lifetime backup already. Give the kid a bit of a chance to grow.

If I were a UN_ fan I’d want the Bison best qb talent on the bench too.

The only lifted handed people I trust are accountants and Tim Tebow.

I totally agree - although I'd say that there aren't that many people like that... or, geez, I hope not.
Cripes, we've had plenty of redshirt freshmen struggle, including Brock Jensen and Kevin Feeney.

Agreed. The sports media should be more concerned about accountants who have fucked over major athletes and their finances than they should be about Tebow trying the simplest thing possible of making an NFL team as a TE. If he doesn’t make the team, no big deal. I’m more disgusted with accountants/financial advisors who take advantage of $$-vulnerable people.

all those rubes buying Jags Tebow jerseys aren’t vulnerable?
Pretty much everything you need to know about investing fits on one side of an index card. I completely agree there is little reason for the typical person to spend money on advice.

And from the book of St. Easton, chapter 16, verses 9-12: And after the period of great tribulation, a prophet of great wisdom came forth to the Herd. Many southern pilgrimages were made in the years that followed, and bunnies lamented. Here ends the reading.

Go back and watch some Stick highlights. The guy was like lightning once he hit the secondary. Cam doesn't have that next gear. That is not to say he can't be a successful QB here, Brock and Wentz didn't have that either. Brock had giant nuts and Wentz had a cannon for an arm though. Cam will have to find something that takes his game up a notch to start in the fall.

And in those days, Cole, son of Easton, of the tribe of Omaha on the Plains, came upon the great Northern Waste. There he studied, and broke bread with his new brothers. He commanded that a fatted hog be sacrificed, and that its flesh be fashioned into a foot ball. With this relic, Cole, son of Easton, performed many feats of strength and skill, drawing acclaim from the entire province and beyond. And the People of that province were joyful, for they had suffered mightily for many moons. But behold, a new era is upon the People. The darkness has been cast aside.
Blessed be the reading of the holy word of the Prophet, Randy of clan Hedberg.

And then they were all, unknowingly, jettisoned off who’ll be OC Roehl, where they feel listless and did nothing but to attempt to save them selves and hope that, had they did so, there would be stars to aging to a people who played to strengths and outside of those very positions
They had otherwise

Ndsu needs a NY Yankee rule. High and tight.
Stick: respectable young man. I'd let that guy borrow my cell phone.
This hippie: I'd flick a quarter in his guitar case outside a bar downtown and tell him to get a job.

that's not just any wind. That's the breeze created by the passing of the awesomeness of Stick to the next great Bison QB out of the state of Nebraska.

Too long. Disgusting hippy. On the Cam Wagon 100% based on hair.

One thing is certain - that hippy needs to get friendly with Coach K. You all see the difference in those biceps between Lord Stick and the hippy?

What if the long hair is the source of his power? You know, Samson-like.*
*Would be a real tragedy if he made the UNIdome cave in on itself...you know, with all those championship banners and all.

Yes, yes I see this is a consideration and indeed the cave-in would be tragic most assuredly. But I don't expect the exalted Kramer would require an altered coiffure in order to imbue the youngster's frame with additional lean tissue, would he?
