For perspective, there are about 130 FBS teams. According to Sagarin the median teams ranking between 73-77 Were as follows: BYU, Michigan State, Air Force and Northwestern
Then, to give you the benefit of the doubt, dont look at average FCS teams- look at EXCELLENT FCS programs (if there are any such programs) look at schools 6-10 in the FCS polls: Delaware, EWU, SIU, Weber State, JSU
Now tell me which of the following are BETTER in the FCS programs listed above when compared to BYU, Northwestern, Michigan state and Air Force.
1. way the hell better football on the field
2. national attention
3. more advertising revenue
4. better average recruits
5. overall prestige
Are you telling me that the FBS programs listed would rather switch places with Eastern Washington and delware?
Conversely are you telling me that Eastern Washington and Delaware wouldnt immediately switch with these schools if given the chance??? LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL dood.... just take the L. yikes

Jesus Christ lol.
When is the last time College Game Day came to G5 school for an ordinary G5 matchup? It would take some sort of big time P5 game for them to even consider it. NDSU could become one of those ordinary G5 teams with a tiny dome

Do you really think P5 is going to happen in ND? That could happen but what are the chances? Do you really think we could fill a 50k person stadium? There is a equal chances that NDSU is at the top of the G5 or that they are just an ordinary G5 team. What draws a recruit over other G5 teams if we don’t have the tradition of winning championships at FCS???? There are a lot of storied programs they are recruiting against. I don’t see NDSU getting P5 recruits at the G5 level. Fargo really???

At this point who gives a shit about College Game Day? Been there done that twice against shit competition. We’re basically the reason they went to Brookings also. Plus they will never be back so there’s that.

The administration just needs to do a better job at reaching out to the teams that figure they have no chance of losing. UNI and SDSU keep getting Iowa and Iowa St games even though they are winning those games.

Did he even mention P5 let alone in ND? Who said anything about a 50k seat stadium. We have a tradition of winning period and it’s proven, regardless of level.

Yeah he said G5 was not the ultimate goal….. We do have a tradition of winning one FBS game a year and practically all of our FCS games. We don’t know how that will translate in the G5 until we move up, just expecting to keep winning is no guarantee. We are going to need a bigger stadium if we want to be a top G5 team, high performance center will help but does that give us the top facilities in the G5 or just the average? NDSU has to prove they are elite all over again with no guarantees…

That’s the adventure!!! That’s what makes it exciting!! Right now we aren’t at the top of the mountain, WE ARE THE MOUNTAIN! That mountain due to erosion is slowly be coming a hill as far as fan engagement is concerned.

Re: What was your favorite JMU dynasty moment?
Why not just build an 80,000 seat stadium and see if we can join the SEC for the ultimate goal?

If you wanna jerk off to Gameday coming when I was in college...go for it. They came because they had nothing better to do. At the peak of NDSU's fun quirky power. If that's what the school wants to be, they should buckle up for 15,000 attendance because that's all it will ever be.
If NDSU wants to actually become anything resembling a brand, we gotta move up. That's no longer a debate. I don't really give a shit if we are a G5 with "a tiny dome." NDSU has proven they can play with larger programs. It's time to join them like 90% of the good programs at the FCS level already have lmaooooo
I'd rather see NDSU go 5-7 playing against schools that take football remotely seriously than go 15-0 against basketball schools who have a football team.

Bohl built this Dynasty from scratch and then went to Wyoming. If he can’t build it there how are we going to assume Entz is going to be able to build it at NDSU? Granted Wyoming had a couple great years with Josh Allen but now have faded back to ordinary. But at least they can brag about their high draft pick NFL starting QB……. You see where I’m going?

Bohl himself said part of the reason that he went to Wyoming was because it was going to be a bit of a challenge with starting over and that he likes Wyoming because he used to vacation there. Lol

Location. NDSU can get the money from alumni if a conference came calling. Honestly just waiting on the conference invite is the only thing we are waiting on.

Re: What was your favorite JMU dynasty moment?
This would be done already if we had a football only invite.

The simple answer to your question is that we are NDSU and are thus not an average FCS team. Our run if continued success had brought more attention than any NIU or MAC team. Because of our position we get the best of both worlds currently. If we actually want to be a G5/fringe P5 we should combine und and ndsu for the academic profiles and stop dumping funds into every dinky teachers college in every podunk nd town. Actually fund a big state uni. But the way it's currently set up it just seems incredibly wasteful and unrealistic. Just my opinion

Its so strange, none of them are begging to come back (although UMASS should lol)??!?!??!!!1!??1/?
NDSU is not embarrassing. the FCS is embarrassing. ITs pathetic. Once upon a time, NDSU would have fit in the subdivision that boasted MANY programs that would consider themselves football schools. Now there are about 3-4.. soon there will be 1-2.
What a joke
It will be a sad, sad day for FCS when JMU leaves.
Perhaps now they will accept an offer from the Sun Belt, or whoever, just to get their foot in the FBS door.
I’ve enjoyed seeing the ‘embarrassing’ FCS rebound with 8 FBS wins this year, so far. In recent times 2019 (not looking at 2020) was the low point with only 3 FCS wins over FBS. 2018 - 7 2017 - 9 2016 - 10 2015 - 9
With ‘98%’ of the FCS being empty, what is some more of the 2% full FCS that I am watching this fall?
- Missouri State - I posted a note on Bison Report last week about Missouri State’s pathway to a really high ranking before they play in Fargo. Well, they took that big 1st step, beating a higher ranked Central Arkansas. The Bears rose in the rankings from 23 to 14……
Missouri State has always been a sleeping big guy……they have location, recruiting talent galore in the area, are a state school and have a refurbished stadium. Petrino, whatever you think of him, might be the coach to make something of them.
- Southern Illinois, newer up and coming coach with SIU roots, nice stadium and a great recruiting area. What is it I’m forgetting? Oh yeah, for those bored with Bison football they beat NDSU this spring……hmm, I want to see how good they are again this fall.
- Who is this Deion Sanders guy? And why is he getting such high recruiting rankings?
They have a FBS matchup this weekend I want to check on.
- Who is this East Tennessee? And how did they beat a SEC team?
AJ Blazek’s team, btw. How will they do? Nice to see from someone on NDSU’s future schedule.
- How ‘bout that new Montana State coach? Coach Vigen almost got another FCS win against Wyoming. Will he be good, long-term, at that job? Get that IPF built!
- #3 JMU at #9 Weber State this weekend.
I’ve seen mention a couple times by National writers that JMU and Sammy have a pretty good path to undefeated seasons. If that happens, well, NDSU will possibly need to be a road team.
- And how ‘bout that Women’s Basketball school? Are they to be considered a football school? They sure built a nice regular season stadium, plus a really nice IPF. For those complaining about NDSU’s home schedule, not sure if serious if you did not buy tickets for Brookings. Nice game by that ‘embarrassing’ FCS team against Colorado State, eh? If the Bison lose that game in Brookings, well, the road to Frisco probably doesn’t go through Fargo.
- Have seen mention of 5 legitimate contenders, so far, for the FCS title.
Sam Houston - SDSU - JMU - Montana - NDSU
What I’ll be watching is if the next 3-4 teams can make that step. What is nice, as a fan of FCS football, is this year there could be extra legitimate contenders. Sounds more fun than a NDSU-JMU duopoly……
Anyways, I don’t expect to have cheered up MB with any of my ramblings, I just dislike Bisonville becoming fatigued and I try and point out the positive out there.
There is a lot of fun FCS stuff out there to watch this season,
Signed,
Not fatigued Bruin Bison
P.S. welcome back Idaho!
P.P.S. Nice job Griz taking down #20 Washington!

1. Yes it is embarrassing to only have 9 FBS wins lol. The fact that youre excited about playing in a league that has a less than .050 winning percentage against FBS teams is embarrassing for you as a human.
2. I never said FCS was "empty". I said 98% of FCS programs are flaming trash heaps based on every single piece of measurable data available.
3. Pretending that East Tennessee is going to really liven up the FCS landscape is extremely comedic
4. Trying to convince people the FCS is exciting by saying "but dion sanders is a coach of one of the teams!" sounds like a church that cant figure out why they cant get high school students in the pews and saying "but we have a fooseball table in the basement!"
5. The Womens basketball school- they are one of the 3-4 teams I consider not to be a complete waste of everyones time and money. And they still cant fill half their stadium unless theyre playing NDSU
The FCS is a joke. everyone is pointing and laughing at us. We will never be anything but a "cute story" unless we move up and kick ass week in and week out. Until then, we are that D2 school that somehow puts players in the draft each year

You sir… You get it! The FCS is garbage as a whole. Sure there is a bright spot here and there but the fact that we notice these little bright spots tells us that the division is crap.

Hmmm be FBS (yes, even G5) and flip through ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, CBS College Sports, etc. to watch our peers?
OR
Continue to be FCS and download flosports, goleathernecks.net, unistudentproductions.org, youth.hitlerforums.com/game-threads etc. to watch our peers?
Seems kind of like a no-brainer.

Looking at the schedule, there's a lot of G5 games on ESPN+ and ESPN3

What was your favorite JMU dynasty moment?
After 8-10 championships, multiple beat downs of p5 schools (a close score wasn’t an indicator, ndsu dominated those games) when’s enough enough? 13 out of 17 championships impresses close to nobody since the entire country knows ndsu is a p5 caliber program playing at this level.
They’ll never be consistently at the top of fbs. But you can say that about 98% of P5 schools. They have a name to make some noise at that level and that’s a start. Having 3 prior QBs be in the NFL including 2 who were drafted in the top 3 is better than any program in the entire country can say. Baker, kyler and Jalen were all transfers and bamas best pick was Tua at 6 and Mac at 10? Maybe Clemson with Watson and Lawrence? That’s elite company to be in
The goal for the AD has to be getting into a G5 conference and whoring ourselves to hosting a P5 program at this point. From there we actually have options and a future.
This shit right now is embarrassing. Especially if when JMU bails. And quite honestly we’re about 9 years behind the ball here. This thing should’ve been rolling the second GSU moved up after ndsu beat them the second time.

So very true! NDSU is wasting these outstanding years when opportunity is the greatest. Strike when the iron is hot! But no, let's try to stay at the top of a lower level just a while longer. How did that work in D2? Without higher goals NDSU football success will start to fade. Used to get an FBS game every 1 or 2 years. Now lucky to get one in 3 years. The slide has already begun. SDSU is getting more and more attention. Matt Larson is a lame duck AD and just won't risk anything hoping to get his next job at an FBS school. It's time for Bison fans to support a move to FBS.

Re: What was your favorite JMU dynasty moment?

Unfortunately I'd have to agree in a lot of ways. not being proactive on this over the past decade is biting us, and will continue to bite us in the ass regarding this decision. It appears those in charge are probably only thinking about this for the first time NOW, which is deeply shameful.
The iron isnt cooled, but its definitely not white hot like it was for about 7 years in a row in the past decade

Re: What was your favorite JMU dynasty moment?
I'm fascinated about why folks are so convinced that NDSU has not done anything in the background? And a lack of acknowledgment that NDSU is in the middle of nowhere and has a very small fanbase (ie eyeballs) even if those fans are engaged like P5 fans are. Those are very, very difficult issues to overcome when you need a conference invite. I'm convinced we will need to partner again with SDSU to have any prayer to make any movement.

I don't think you make the move when the "Iron is white hot". There is an argument that it would be a recipe for disaster. I would argue that you need to be able to demonstrate "staying power" through mediocre years of football. Hey everyone is a fan when you are winning. Do they stay a fan when you are 5-7 and you are playing for conference championships vs. a National Championship is a pipe dream? Is the Bison football fan willing to have the same mentality of a Bison Basketball fan?

I think people would be fine with it. Expectations change based on your surroundings.

The hard core base is pretty strong, but NDSU relies on a lot of bandwagoners to fill the dome.
