Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
You know what Oldbison? You are getting OLD. I see you are going after Coach Bohl AGAIN on areavoices. WE GET IT. I don't understand how many different times you could say the same thing....you have mapped out how you think he is the worst coach in America and can't recruit.
Is there anything fresh you would like to add to the board? Anything?
Some people, like myself are very positive. I am holding to it that we have a fantastic group of freshman/redshirt freshman. I know you will say "time will tell" and I agree with that.
It just gets old seeing you pretend to be a diehard oldschool Bison fan but continually rip on the lack of talent and a poor coaching staff.
Send me a PM again if you want to discuss in private. I would be happy to discuss some of the reasons that I think we are struggling....professionally. (Staff continually changing/defections).
Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
I've been paying close attention to football recruiting these past couple years, as my son's going through the process, and I haven't heard of any other FCS teams having so many verbal commitments as NDSU has right now.
This tells me that the coaches are working hard and getting young men to believe in their program earlier than other staff. I think coaching staff continuity is a big key in winning consistently.
By the way, I agree with Mr. Burgandy.
Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
Losing coaches every year has got to be rough on recruiting. I think we had an excellent class last year, but most would agree that on signing day we were short in two main areas: LB and CB and some would say OL should have had another guy or two. How hard would it be to say, "come to NDSU, we don't know who your defensive coordinator or position coach will be, but trust me....he'll be a good one." We need consistency to not have recruiting holes. It was a big deal to get two CB's over the summer.
Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
Eric Oertel, one of NDSU's offers at LB, gave Washington State a verbal.
Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
CDH vs Woodbury right now on FSN .
#54 shea walker getting looks from NDSU, and the guy next to him BIG 77 is Sentrel Henderson (best Oline recruit in america!)

I personally think that we did ok for DB's...I do believe that we got a pretty damn good CB in Pierre, the kid has been getting better and better as the year has gone on, just what you want to see from a true freshman pushed into starting lineup. Gatlin from NDSCS has been injured for a good chunk of the season so we haven't been able to see what he can do. Ollman, playing and not getting redshirted, although playing almost only on special teams, but it says alot about his athletic ability to play as a true freshman. And don't forget about Marcus Williams, even though he hasen't stepped on the field yet, his size and athletic ability will be a welcome sight at CB.
LB is a MUST in this year...the coaches need to go out and wave the LB's depth chart in front of a few LB's who are considering something along the line of a MAC or another lower level FBS school, come here and compete for a starting job right away. Need to get a good group of OL this year, and a solid group of DT's.
Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
I agree that Pierre and Williams were both nice additions. But both of them came on board in the summer after signing day. Good work by the coaches once they came on board. They filled a hole. (I know Williams was talked to before, but he still had to commit...and he did.)

Yep, I know. I was just wondering if you knew about the other schools. I never researched schools like you suggested. I did a quick search after I last posted and didn't see anyone else real close.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I guess it's really up to how the coach wants to approach things. If they want to get a bunch of verbals and hopefully kids explode and we can hang to them or if they know the kid is solid but not going to get looks from FBS schools.

Gotta like his speed. NDSU's football team will be able to put together some DI-caliber relay squads, that's for sure.

[Now standing on a favorite soapbox as a former runner and teammate of your Coach Lars"]
A few years ago the Bison football and track teams shared some athletes, particularly sprinters. In the past year or two, I think there have been no Bison on both squads.
Gebhart is a fabulous high-school 400-meter runner and I think he'll continue to get stronger and faster. His dad and uncle (twins) were record setters at SDSU. Will Gebhart be allowed to run track? It'd be a crime if he wanted to run track for Don Larson but was required to play just football.
As I said, I think (am not 100% positive but I can't name any right now and I could name a few just three and four years ago) there are no Bison football players who are also running track. Is there a connection with the struggles the football team is having?

Actually, Marquart is a running back so he wouldn't be a top receiver in Minnesota. Having said that, I've seen him play a couple times last year (I live half a mile from the school) and by the end of the first quarter I asked the guys I was with who was recruiting him. He was pretty good. To be specific in the game you quoted above, he had 20 carries for 136 yards and 1 reception for 33 yards. The week before, against Park Center (terrible team) he had 15 carries for 174 yards (3 TD's) and 3 catches for 91 yards (2 TD's). He's definitely a player - so good luck to the Bison in getting him.

If we get him and 10 other minnesota prep recruits on offense, according to Lakes, nobody in the country would be able to stop us.
Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
I FORGOT AJ TROUP>!! & Marquart could be a receiver.. sorry HAMBONE.
yes bisonmike, if NDSU would get 10 athletes from the METRO and take them away from the Mac's, MWC's and BIG TEN, then yes, we would be set!
Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
You can watch Gebhart here tonight. He scored a first half touchdown.

Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary

11 kids and only 1 Minnesotan so far *and he's here because of josh campion's recruiting 2 years ago* they played and trained together.
time to hit up the MINN METRO COACHES!! instead of partying in fargo, get in a car on a thur/fri and go 3 hours south!!

We have at least five offers out to MN kids, just gotta get some verbals.
Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
CB Adam Dixon of Laveen, Arizona has an offer from NDSU. 5'10 180 lbs. 3 star recruit. Also has an offer from Northern Arizona. The Bison seem to be going after a few prospects from Arizona.
