Yep, I know. I was just wondering if you knew about the other schools. I never researched schools like you suggested. I did a quick search after I last posted and didn't see anyone else real close.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I guess it's really up to how the coach wants to approach things. If they want to get a bunch of verbals and hopefully kids explode and we can hang to them or if they know the kid is solid but not going to get looks from FBS schools.

Gotta like his speed. NDSU's football team will be able to put together some DI-caliber relay squads, that's for sure.

Harvard got a commit from a 4 star tight end this week who had originally commited to stanford. What I want to know is, what do you guys think the posibility of us getting a big time recruit like this is. Every guy who takes a visit here has said our facilities are as good as any and they all like the Fargo area. Is that enough to get a big recruit here?

Hmm...If someone was a big recruit and was coming to NDSU mainly because of football...I think it would take some strange connection to NDSU, either for a specific academic program or some overwhelming family connection. Otherwise I don't see it if they have other big offers. NDSU is a great school for the area, and has the old football tradition, but NDSU is not as attractive a place to go and play (for most kids) as would be a good Pac10 team, etc. 18,000 people in a dark dome isn't as impressive as most high level FBS programs in my opinion.

Stanford is on the way up, up, up, but Harvard is harvard. Sounds like the kid has more on his mind than 'football first.' If I got a scholarship to go there I'd go there too.

Isn't the star system based a lot on who offers? I wouldn't be surprised to see that four-star TE drop to a three star. That's usually the case - when a guy verbals to an FCS they lose a star (sometimes two).

I might be wrong, but I thought that IVY league schools were nonscholarship for sports? Someone please correct me if I am.

[Now standing on a favorite soapbox as a former runner and teammate of your Coach Lars"]

A few years ago the Bison football and track teams shared some athletes, particularly sprinters. In the past year or two, I think there have been no Bison on both squads.

Gebhart is a fabulous high-school 400-meter runner and I think he'll continue to get stronger and faster. His dad and uncle (twins) were record setters at SDSU. Will Gebhart be allowed to run track? It'd be a crime if he wanted to run track for Don Larson but was required to play just football.

As I said, I think (am not 100% positive but I can't name any right now and I could name a few just three and four years ago) there are no Bison football players who are also running track. Is there a connection with the struggles the football team is having?
