I think that is a very legitimate concern. It happened to us to a kid who decided to walk-on at Nebraska - he ended up playing his true freshman year at LB. ......Edit....I should clarify, got called by Nebraska the night before LOI signing day and asked to be a preferred walk-on; totally caught Stig by surprise.

Change in staff at Nebraska. Brought the walk on program back. It was not a shock. Somes kids live and die that dream. He got the chance.
Everyone just relax, all right? Believe me, if there's one thing Ron Burgundy knows, it's women.

Fred Jackson should be here this weekend. Here's hoping we land our second CB.

At least it isn't quite as cold as a few days ago.

Has anyone seen Ryan Smith play who could comment on if he could play corner? Now that we have Allen and the two WR's it makes me wonder. Of course if Jackson makes the right decision it doesn't matter as much.

Bohl has a tremendous track record of bringing in every recruit he gets to verbal. I'm not worried, a fair amount of these kids already have turned down FBS offers and chances to walk on at major football programs. Heck, Wyoming won a bowl and it didn't phase Olson one bit in verbaling to NDSU.

This is what Grant said to Hallstrom....

Who offered? NDSU, UND, Wyoming, and Army. Gophers offered walkon. My dad went to Army so that's where that started. But Army was never in the mix. Wyoming was neat experience, and they won their bowl game too, but I'm not one of those guys that has to go big Division 1 to feel good about myself. NDSU is right for me.

Off our interest list, Brad Fisher committed to Southern Illinois. He had offers from SIU & UNI.

On a side note, looks like UND/USD might be going after D-II talent...

They already have talked to Allen about playing defense.

I read that too, but from what he said, he doesn't think he's done growing yet. He may end up 6'3" and 225. He just turned 17 last month.

Some kids grow early and some late, but you can tell a lot from their families.

I had a kid in my class who was 6'0" 200 lbs and shaving in 7th grade, and I was 5'2" and 100 lbs. He graduated at 6' and I graduated at 6'2". I grew three inches after I turned 17. My family (uncles) were tall and grew late. I have a cousin who grew 4 inches in college! (OK, why am I telling the boring story of my families height.)

When the kid says that his dad's family is all over 6'3" he probably has a good idea of how tall and big he is going to get. Also if he's had some x-rays he may know if it looks like there is more growth coming. He doesn't sound like he has CB genetics. He could be an imposing safety or a punishing RB, but I still think we need another CB in this class. But then again...I'm a little greedy.

That said, I am really excited about this kid in one of the other positions. I think we are fortunate to get him!!!!

If he ends up being 6'3" and can keep his quickness and fluidity in his hips, he can most def. play CB. CB's keep getting bigger and bigger in football today, 3 ouf of the Top 5 H.S. Corners this year are 6'1" or taller (2 are 6'1", one is 6'2").

If he turns out to be 6'2" and 215 and retains his quickness and flexability, he would be an outstanding CB at this level.

Hmmm. That's good info. Time will tell then.

(But I'm still greedy and want another CB so Allen can play RB.)
