Looking at the recruiting summary, even without looking at the talent level of some of the verbals we've gotten, just looking at where our offers are committing elsewhere to is pretty impressive - some FBS talent (comparatively, that is) in Minnesota, Indiana, Wisconsin, Vandy, Washington State and others. Add to that the Air Force offer to Vraa (assuming we are indeed the frontrunner on that accord) and you can see NDSU's presence being felt in the region. hopefully this continues to grow as we establish ourselves as an FCS power.

The SDSU football team figures to add a couple quality receivers in this recruiting class. The crop is said to be of very high quality, and the team will explore the possibility of adding a junior college wide out, as well. That seems to make sense considering soon-to-be sophomore Aaron Rollin and redshirt freshman Trevor Tiefenthaler appear to be the top candidates to become the No. 1 receiver in 2010. Plus, the last juco WR, Saunders Montague, worked out well.
So, in summary, SDSU is looking to add receivers. They had a 2 star WR in Gebhart in Sioux Falls that NDSU already took and they claim to not have been interested in (if you read their boards). Gebhart is the #1 ranked WR in our zone based on rivals. He was 30 minutes from Brookings and they didn't want him. Interesting. I can't wait for that kid to dominate. Welcome to NDSU son. You will have a fantastic career. Congrats to our staff for getting this kid to camp early, identifying a need and getting the kid.
Well, if it's true they didn't want him, look for some pwnage of their secondary by TG in the Marker Bowls coming up in a couple years.

Stig doesn't offer players early, so we'll never know what the great talent evaluator thought of him or a decent chunk of our recruits for that matter.
I don't think Bohl has had a problem with finding talent at the WR position, he just missed and brought in a few players that had character issues. That problem can happen to any coach.

So are you saying Stig didn't want Gebhart or that he just didn't start recruiting him early enough and we got one out of your backyard? Two different issues I guess. Our WR's aren't special, but Heckendorf is getting paid in the NFL right now. We have had some good WR's. Rivals seems to think he is pretty good. Great size and speed.
I don't know where this all started but Stig did want Gebhart. He called him this summer and had him in the one day camp in July. SDSU had not offered him yet, like they hadn't to most of their recruits. Gebhart would have picked NDSU anyway. Besides, Iowa called and wanted him as a preferred walk-on so I think Trevor could have played for Stig at SDSU if he wanted to.
I'm not saying either. I'm sure Stig would have offered Gebhart eventually and it sounds like, based on what his dad is posting, he still would have picked NDSU. Stig obviously didn't see him as a can't miss recruit because he does offer those kids early (i.e. Sumner from Brandon Valley, Brandon Wegher from Sioux City). What I am saying is whose talent evaluation do you trust more right now at the WR position, Stig's or Bohl's? Stig has had very good luck the last five years finding a number of kids that have performed well at WR (Montague, Rollin, Jaron Harris, Fox, Steffen, Cochart) where Bohl has seemed struggled at that position maybe more than any other. You can attribute some of that to differences at QB too, but many posters here on Bisonville have bashed your WR's, besides Heck, for about three years. It looks like Bohl's last two classes of WR's might change that (Wahlo Jr, Rogers, Calhoun, Gebhart, probably Vraa) but that is what you thought about the couple classes before that too (Holloway, Williams, Haynes, McFarland, Mack, Schultenover, etc.).
I'm sure Gebhart is going to pan out and torch the Rabbits a few times in his career - that's what usually happens with situations like this in college athletics.
