High School post-season: ND, SD, MN, WI

Wasn't sure where to put this, but playoffs are going on.

Since there are NDSU verbals, offers, and potential recruits in the play-offs, here it is in Football.

North Dakota

Ryan Smith: we know he had a good day in the quarterfinal win against St. Mary's (6 TDs and 3 2-point conversions). No idea what his total yardage was.
Esley Thorton: He went 4-5 passing and rushed 6 times for 69 yards in Bismarck's quarterfinal win over Fargo North.
Jake Miller: Not a verbal, no idea where he is on NDSU's recruiting radar, but he rushed 11 times for 142 yards and caught a 65-yard TD pass.
Tyler Gefroh: His team lost by 1 in the quarterfinals in a defensive battle to Bismarck Century. Final score: 7-6.

South Dakota

Trevor Gebhart: His team, Sioux Falls Washington, won 65-0 in the first round of the playoffs. Can't find much at all about the game.
Michael Hardie: His team, Sioux Falls Roosevelt, beat Brookings 37-7. Again, can't find out much about the game.

Wisconsin

Colten Heagle: He didn't play RB until the playoffs but in two playoff games he has a total of 428 yards rushing. He averaged over 17 yard per carry in Kimberly's second-round win. He's a DB recruit so it's encouraging that he scored one of his three TDs on a 55-yard interception.

Minnesota*:

Max Busher, Zach Vraa: Busher is a linebacker and defensive stats are non-existent for high school games so, sorry, nothing to report on him.. Three out of four of Zach Vraa's receptions went for TDs. Offense is a different story though. Rosemount only threw five passes. One was incomplete, the others all went to Vraa (not sure what went wrong on the one reception that didn't go for a score.) They beat Apple Valley 42-6.

A.J. Troup, Grant Olson: Again, this is a WR/LB combination at Wayzata (hey, I think I see a pattern in NDSU's Minnesota recruiting this year!) Heck if I can find out much about their postseason. I think they won.

Wayzata beat Osseo 40-7...held Osseo to 162 total yards and had 5 INT's...Troup had a 31 yard TD reception. Wayzata plays Champlin Park on Friday in the section Finals...I don't see how Champlin Park hangs around in this one.

For the season, in 7 games, A.J. Troup has 22 receptions for 386 yards and 4 TD's...for the season Grant Olson, in 8 games, has 89 tackles, 19 TFL's, 3 Sacks, 2 INT, 2 FF, and 1 TD.

Rosemount plays Eastview this coming Friday in the Section Finals, Eastview beat them earlier this season 13-10, so should be a good game...Vraa on the season has 32 receptions for 625 yards and 11 TD's. Not a clue about Busher's...

I wish that Jake Miller would get on the radar quickly. I've seen some video of him. He's a 'gamer.' Looks like Bison attitude. We 'do not' want UND or SDSU to get him. Not

The word on Miller is that he is too small for FCS football, but I don't buy that for a second. The BHS roster has him at 5'11", 165 lbs. A kid that is (arguably) the best player on the best team in the state has to be worth an offer. He is an ath-elite.

I have been watching this kid's stats all year, but I have never seen him play. Is he shifty, fast, powerful, or all of the above? I did some checking to see if he ran track or not and it looks like there is a Jake Miller that is a 1:57 800 runner last year for the Demons. It is a little unique to be a middle distance/running back, but that does not mean anything. It tells me that he is tough and that "pain don't hurt." I just hope that we are giving him a good look. We need to leave no stones unturned.

I wish I knew more about him. I just know that everytime I go to check on Thorton's stats, I end up saying "Wow, NDSU better be going after Miller too!"
