I agree with OldBison and BisonFanatic on this one. Seriously, has he been to Fargo yet? Vermillion is bunk. They are not comparible in facilities, schools, cities...etc. Oh, and we are playoff eligible. WOW.

I expected us to have a GREAT WR class this year. Several WR's coming in with playing time being offered. Hey, they could start for 4 years potentially. I still think we have a Texas angle that is being worked, that we do not know about yet. But, this kid would be huge. Hopefully he gets to Fargo for a visit before signing day.

I believe Ericksen, Kerswill and Hill all visited during the same weekend and were offered during or just following their visits.

I would have thought a depleted WR core at NDSU would have been attractive to a good WR.
I don't know anything about Illinois State, but why would this kid consider USD over NDSU. If he visited both Vermillion and Fargo I would think that would help straighten him out. Also USD will be in transition purgatory for most of his time there. Even if he is considering pre-med NDSU has something similar. Yeah, I don't get it, play in front of nearly 20,000 at the Fargodome or maybe 5000 at the Dakota Dump.

One possibility is that it may come down to money. In FCS, all scholarship offers are not created equal. He may have received a full scholarship offer from USD and a partial from NDSU.

There are a million other reasons why kids make decisions about schools, and only some of them are rationale. Maybe he prefers a smaller town. Maybe a coach told him that he could start for four years. Maybe he met a girl on a visit. Maybe he didn't get along with someone at SU, or the coach recruiting him hasn't paid enough attention to him. This is part of what makes recruiting high school kids "interesting."

While it is certainly possible that NDSU only offered Erickson a partial scholarship, I seriously doubt it. With Hakeem leaving there is a big hole to fill and my understanding (which certainly could be incorrect) is that Erickson was #1 on NDSU's list. If that is true, given the situation here a partial offer just doesn't make much sense.

But, you make a good point, this young man may just prefer smaller towns. Our WR coach is a terrific guy, can't believe he wouldn't have been paid enough attention.

Granted not all programs are created equal. But having a great program doesnt mean all recruits will like your program. Some times or many times a certain school justs doesnt seem-feel right. You just dont feel comfortable. Now if its the only school that offers then you still might want to go someplace and grow to like it. But if you have choices you dont have to. PL

You don't give out trophies for losing. Trophies for sucking. That's a communist idea. You don't get a trophy for losing. You get a piece of pizza and you shut up. Trophies for losing? What the hell happened to us?
