NDSCS just had a DE (Jarrett Crittenton) verbal to Clemson. According to a Clemson board this kid had about 20 offers. There were a lot of FBS schools looking around NDSCS, could this be the reason why Kyle Richardson descided not to pursue NDSU in the chance some FBS would offer?

Consensus is that NDSU has a pretty good recruiting class, we have a couple players rated two stars. I thought it would be interesting to see how this stacks up to other top FCS schools.

Check out N. Iowa, by far the most impressive list, by Rivals rating standards that is (for what that is worth) with many two star players. Appalachian St has a few three star players. McNeese and Montana also have some nice talent coming, Geo So. also has a few three star players. Simply scroll through the listed teams, unfortunately NDSU is not listed, must not pay Rivals fees.

Kolpack quoted Bohl as saying he wasn't pursuing an JUCO players, Hallstrom later backed it up on the media blog, so after my encouragement, his name was removed.

However, according to Scout.com he is still committed to NDSU:

even though he is a juco...it would be nice to have a kid with that size...isnt he like 6'4" 280 or somethin around there?

Scout.com lists him at 6'3" and 310 lbs. Big boy, could clog the middle nicely. Nonetheless, between Kolpack, Hallstrom and Scout.com I am terribly confused, but then that probably doesn't surprise anyone.

It seems like our lineman, linebackers, and tight ends are as good as anyone. The problem is we never find the highly rated skilled players and we need to go out to find them.

Guys like Heckendorf and Belquist are solid west coast receivers but they won't take a slant to the house. That is why

Off the topic, but am providing the attached to request some facts backing up your opinion.

Sam Houston State vs North Dakota State Scoring Summary

00:07 NDSU - Kole Heckendorf 27 yd pass from Steve Walker (Shawn Bibeau kick) 3 plays, 54 yards, TOP 0:19, SHSU 38 - NDSU 41

North Dakota State vs Cal Poly (Nov 10, 2007) Scoring Summary

    .....
00:38 NDSU - Kole Heckendorf 80 yd pass from Steve Walker (Gary Williams rush) 3 plays, 92 yards, TOP 0:27, NDSU 31 - CP 28

    ------------------------------------------------------

    2007 NDSU Individual Statistics

RECEIVING GP No. Yds Avg TD Long Avg/G
    ------------------------------------------------------
    Kole Heckendorf 11 48 766 16.0 6 80 69.6
    Alex Belquist 11 35 499 14.3 0 38 45.4

It looked to me like Heck took some deep and to the house at times when deep is to be well defended. Alex also got some depth - with moves not better speed - per his longest of 38 yards. The average gain per catch for both was 14 to 16 yards.

I get your point, but would not trade either of these two receivers for all the speed that a Troy Williamson can bring. Especially when one can Roehl over the opposition.

It's the offensive style we play and it fits our style of ball and level of skill. Good hands and route running but "so so" speed. Heckendorf reminds me of Cris Carter... a good posession receiver but not a deep threat. Once the Vikes got a deep burner in Moss they stepped it up to a higher level. Teams ignored Heckendorfs ability to go deep and he caught them off guard once in a while. It as Jordan Schultenover who made most of the big plays at Cal Poly. I think he caught 2 or 3 bombs late in the game. We need Belquist and Heckendorf to take a bubble screen to the house like Travis White used to do but I don't think they are fast enough to do it. That's OK because they are good at what they do. The same result just a different way of getting there. I think Holloway and Williams have some big play ability. Schultenover was huge late in the season.

I wouldn't use Troy Willamson as an example of speed since he's just a bad football player. Maybe Moss would be a better example!

Hallstrom said on the sports last night Jason Obarski has verbaled to NDSU and is a kicker and punter(I think somewhere it was mentioned that he didn't punt)
