The ABCs of NDSU SPORTSMANSHIP:
GoAmy…GoBison…GoCarson!!!
Bison proving that great play and great sportsmanship and character can still go hand in hand.
Leave it to the media to stir up a QB controversy after one game....
Let's see what happens the next 2 games. If Vikes go 2-0 and Carson does well enough, then we can talk about it.
They put all their eggs in the JJ basket, so there is no controversy after 1 game.
Just a reminder, rookie QB's don't typically shine.
Peyton Manning had 26 tds to 28 picks his first year...he turned out ok
Troy Aikman went 0-11 as a rookie and threw 9 tds to 18 ints
John Elway had 7 tds to 14 pics
The list goes on.
Not saying McCarthy will be any good, but he's played 2 games
Good points, counter, JJ McCarthy's college football team was so good his senior year that there was actually no way to know if he was any good. Turns out, maybe he wasn't. Maybe there were 30 qbs that could have qb'ed Michigan to that natty.
He may turn out good, but he was definitely oversold going into the nfl.

This is accurate as I have brought up the same thing. However everybody is talking about it as they discussed it all week on Kfan. The vikes have two problems. One they were really dumb not to play JJ a lot in the preseason being he hadn’t played in a while and nobody truly knows if he will be Troy Aikman or Christian Ponder. Second this team is built to win now so do u wait a year or two with poor QB play to get there? As I have always stated Wentz has been a very good QB when he has had a good oline just like Darnold. Darnold was terrible and took all the blame the last two games last year when in reality the oline sucked it up.
If it flies it dies.
Long for the days of freezing in the south stands of Dacotah Field.
Yeah this is the key counterpoint to the “he’s a rookie, he’s gonna struggle” position. Vikings are actually good this year in most positions. If they can get consistent QB play, they have the Defense and Offensive weapons to win now.
You also give JJ a chance to learn one more year, clearly he needs it.

I'm pretty sure KOC probably knows right now if McCarthy is the real deal or a bust. Not through games, but through preseason. Games 1 and 2 probably either confirmed or were not problem indicators to him. But he knows.
It’s the nfl, if cw gives the Vikes the best chance to win, he’ll play. Jj won’t be given anything.
Definitely. If Carson goes 3-0 and can be a game manager type, they will stick with him I'd imagine.
But, can Carson do that and not go wild west?
The gunslinger in him is probably still alive.
The vikings also have a very difficult schedule after the euro games, and I don't forsee them being more than 9 wins no matter what, so playing JJ and seeing what he actually is makes sense.
Vikings are not super bowl bound with either qb.
