Reading online comments, nobody in the MVC is happy Tarelton is being considered. It's really quite embarrassing and they are in the stages of looking like Conference USA

Texas State turned down the offer.

Tarleton being the rebound choice would be a big mistake.

All sports is dead but football only is possible. If they get Toledo and NIU, we could backfill football only in the MAC or maybe the MW would take 4 football only members? We may just need to bite the bullet and go to the crappy CUSA

A possibility but unlikely. Once they get another full member they will have 9 for football. That works all day..They could then a non football school, St Mary's, anyone? and have 9 for basketball. That also works all day.

He doesn't care. Neither does the conference

University presidents are odd ducks. Most of them suck

Man idk Tarleton would do some pretty bad things to what’s left of the brand.

Academically I’m not sure they’re a real college.
Mountain West, hope for the best.

He might, he isn't a university president.

I just don't get that move, they have zero DI success and are located in a tiny town outside of the Dallas. It is like adding a school just because they are in Texas. UTEP I got, that was the obvious move with their location and history. Texas State as well, established DI school in the middle of a number of major metro areas.

True, but our friend is clearly a hoops guy. Is Tarleton good at hoops? I know nothing about them. Guessing they're not R1

Imagine 10 people, each with varied grievances and purported causes, trying to choose from a list of diverse and talented candidates. Often times the choice represents compromise more than reason
