I’ve heard Dom and Kolpack insist that this is because as the AD of the school, he doesn’t want to sour the current relationship with the MVFC. They say that NDSU is definitely “in contact” with MW in other means, just not directly with Matt so he can say ^that^ publicly. It could be speculation on the media’s part, but they seemed pretty confident this is what was going on.
Could be (again) me trying to be overly optimistic, but this makes sense to me.

Today's ADs are politicians: can't risk alienating any constituency.
Halfway there!

: Gonzaga is set to join the Pac-12 today. An announcement is coming soon.
I feel like ML has put far too much stock in a couple of constituencies, the MVFC and the old guard TeamMakers. I want to be clear that those have been and are still important to Bison Athletics but if decisions for the future are being based largely on those constituencies, Bison Athletics does not have a future greater than the status quo.
Seriously...Tarleton State.

The Mountain West has held deep and serious discussions with FCS Tarleton State, sources tell @YahooSports
. MWC needs one more full member to qualify as a conference.
Negotiations between the Texas-based FCS school and the conference have progressed.

Tarleton, dear lord!
I get that Texas market is hot, and Tarleton has money and is growing. But no way they approach even what Texas St has at the moment. I figured CUSA would pick them up as backfill, not MW.
Not a great sign. Maybe Texas St is turning down MW, or this is a backup candidate if they say no.
Lol. I've still never heard of tarelton state outside of a message board and I live in DFW.
