Mountain West, hope for the best.

Memphis basically saying the money wasn't right, and they couldn't afford this move.
"The situation is fluid" means if PAC finds the money somehow, Memphis is still in play.
The point about Olympic sports means travel costs were a big concern.
It was Hawaii's choice. Their trips to the Big West provided less costly and more convenient travel. Mostly flights into LA. They pay travel subsidies to both the Big West and the MW. It is my understanding that they will remain football only under the new agreement. Though they get a portion of the MW distribution and tv deal, they also have their own tv deal in Hawaii that pays quite well.
The MW needs to add at least 2 all sports members. Though they haven't done it before they may also add at least one oly sports only school to help with scheduling, particularly basketball.
I do not know if NDSU is in the conversation for the MW or Pac but I do think both conferences are looking east to fill the roster. I don't think the adds will be solely market size based. Unless, the MW and Pac work out some sort of deal to let the defectors leave after this season academic year (unlikely imho) new MW additions would not be coming on board for at least 2 years. The MW has begun negotiations for the next tv deal so I do think they will need to identify who is joining fairly soon. The GOR agreement runs through 2032.
