Retention is actually much harder in G5 due to all the competition. Entire rosters and coaching staffs get swiped after a successful season by those further up the chain. See Troy and FSU this year. They got devastated by the portal and NIL.
Its the same. Its not harder.

Dellenger talking about MWC dissolving. I sort of doubt this happens unless all MWC members find new homes. PAC doesn’t want all of them, or would have merged to start with.

Well, it’s definitely much more expensive. And still normally a losing battle because there is always someone further up the ladder with deeper pockets.

The P2/4 are ruthless in mining all the G5 coaches and players. And the money at play there is at another level of magnitude.

Whoever the G5 rep is this year will be lucky to still have a team for the first round of CFP. Last year a lot of bowl teams were playing with skeleton crews after their players and coaches got harvested.

Same thing as the Pac 12. If the MWC has money whatever schools are left over will use that money to rebuild

Agree, the pundits kept saying the same thing about both CUSA and PAC when they got raided.

MWC will look completely different when this is all done. But it is very likely to survive.

The first lawsuit has been filed..The PAC is suing to reduce the amount of money going to the MW. Just a guess, poaching and exit fees.. I expect the MW will counter sue.

We didn’t make any effort to move up for a decade because Bresciani didn’t want to…it’s entirely possible that Cook feels the same way…

Replacing conference schools Indiana St, Murray St, Southern Illinois, and Youngstown St with schools like Wyoming, Hawaii, Montana, and Montana St is a definite upgrade and would excite fans and players alike IMO.

This is the time where we need a Chapman like visionary type of leader, you need to sell not just to the MWC but also SDSU, Montana and Montana State that this is the right move and we can be the foundation to make a great FBS conference. Montana is extremely conservative when it comes to realignment and SDSU has reasons to like where they are, their FB success is new to them and the conference basketball tournmant being SF is very meaningful to their school.

Instead of a Chapman or a GT, we have ML giving uninspiring answers to going FBS while Cook is nowhere to be found.
NDSU to the FBS always. In all ways.

With the lawsuits just warming up, this might take a while …

But I expect it to go the same as it did for the PAC2, as others have already chimed in

When the dust settles, the remaining schools in the MWC will rebuild, with FCS call ups being the only real option. A lot will depend on who left standing in the MWC has the most pull – San Jose state will no doubt lobby for Sac State and Davis, not the XDSUs. Maybe there is enough room for all, but we should hope that Wyoming has significant pull in any potential rebuild scenario

The Sunbelt is 100% what you want to mimic if you are serious about FB. The problem is that of the potential MWC survivors, only Wyoming would appear to fall into this category. Apologies to Hawaii but you’re just in an odd category all around, and the rest are the worst of FBS. If you are serious about FB, there is only one way to fix this …

Cook is in a tough spot on multiple fronts, not the least of which is his wife’s health. My personal opinion based on what I’ve heard is that he is indeed pushing this. We came very close before the B1G farted on the PAC in the last cycle, but much of this is out of NDSU’s hands. Some of you seem to have a hard time accepting this fact

On to the redbirds (who I believe are getting looks from the Mac?)
