I hadn't seen Tyrel's name mentioned here but was told that he was getting steady interest (and it sounds like an offer below) from the bison. A little slight, but supposedly has true 4.4 speed.

That makes two of SDSU's four verbals (Thomas O'Brien, Winona Cotter) that chose SDSU over NDSU...I didn't think that was possible Burgandy? (Just Kidding...I don't want to get into a smack war here).

From the Sioux Falls Argus Leader:

    SDSU lands Yankton’s Kool
Yankton’s Tyrel Kool made a verbal commitment on Sunday to play football at South Dakota State.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound senior was a Class AA all* state pick at defensive back, but is projected to play running back for the Jackrabbits. Although limited to 80 carries this season due to a high ankle sprain, Kool finished his prep career with 276 rushes for 2,153 yards and 23 scores. Bucks coach Arlin Likness described Kool – who chose SDSU over rival North Dakota State – as perhaps the quickest back he’s coached in a 28-year career.

“South Dakota State was just the place where I felt like I belonged,” said Kool, also all-state in the 300 hurdles. “I like to think I canbea difference maker.” The Jacks also got a verbal from Jon Fick of Boyden- Hull/Rock Valley, former SDSU standout Paul Keiser’s alma mater. The 6-5, 250-pound Fick was named Class 2A first team all-state as a defensive lineman by The Iowa Sports Connection, but will likely play on the offensive line in college.

That's a pretty amazing statement by Likness. He is a great coach and has had great atheletes play at Yankton throughout the years. And if Yankton has been known for anything over the past 30 years, it's for it awesome running game.

If I remember the argument correctly, and I don't want to put words in Burgundy;s mouth, I think he was saying that SDSU will never win a recruiting battle over NDSU if it was an North Dakota kid. He was previously stating how we have went into So Dakota and taken some really solid kids, and that would never happen in North Dakota. My guess is that kid chose SDSU over NDSU because he has no chance to play running back at NDSU in his entire career. We have too much depth at running back with DJ and V'lander both redshirting last year. I don't blame him if he wanted to play, he had to go to SDSU. Congrats to SDSU for signing an in state kid.

That's cool. If your implying SDSU is getting better players than NDSU than you must be smoking something. We only sign a couple of players per year out of South Dakota for a reason. There are not that many. I'm sure he's great but this kid would have been lucky to see the field with our loaded backfield. It doesen't mention him getting offers from a lot of other schools? Who knows.. maybe he only got a walk on offer from NDSU or a partial scholorship. Besides we already got the best player out of the state in Preston Evans.

I was wondering if the position had anything to do with it too. But if the kid is as impressive as Arlen Likness says, it would be a little foolish for NDSU to not give him a look at RB even through we are loaded at the position. For those not in the know, Likness has been part of, arguable the most successful high school football program in SD history as either assistant coach or head coach for the past 30 years. I wouldn't take a comment of his like that lightly.

From what I have heard the Bison weren't all that high on him. They have some other qb's ahead of him on their list.

Is Dakota Priaire 9-man? If so, it's a pretty tough jump going from playing QB in 9-man to college QB. The defenses you read as a 9-man QB are pretty simple. Still sounds like a heck of a player though.
