Anybody else notice the offense is now checking with the sideline on some plays after lining up. Is it me, or is that new? I hadn't noticed that in other games earlier this year but was only able to watch parts of the first 2 games and don't recall that ever happening until this year.

I noticed that too, but a few times it seemed like they were looking as much behind them as to the sideline so I concluded it was a smokescreen. Probably wrong but it looked like BS to me.
The white jerseys are the best. Don't even bother to argue.

It's been happening in all three games this year. I don't recall it in previous years.

I hate it about as much as I hate when an opponents punter runs sideways and "rugby" style kicks a wounded duck down the field. It's not the kind of football I enjoy watching and I feel like it's the type of things teams do when they know they aren't as good as their opponent or don't have enough talent in the right positions.

I'm not going to let it bother me TOO much but every time the Bison do it I cringe.

Actually the only reason I don't totally hate it is the "fake" check with the sidelines play this past weekend. I couldn't believe that Entz and Rhoel could be that creative.

I don't think it's a smokescreen as they also have the 3rd string QB in a red jersey on the sidelines this year too so he can be spotted easily when relaying the play.

This is new, and it drives me crazy. We've always made checks at the line...but it was driven by what the QB saw and based on the gameplan for that week. So, either Cam is incapable of checking at the line based on the defensive alignment vs the play we have called/could call or they are following the trend of college football where everyone is looking to the sideline to change the play.
This is not 'Nam. This is Bisonville. There are rules here.

Please NO!! NDSU PRIDE was on display when we DONT LOOK TO SIDELINES!!

NDSU has never done that, if we are doing that for CAM then that's embarassing.

Just like how bad college baseball and softball are now where they look to coach in dugout, then both look at wristband befor throwing.
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?

You're right, I feel SO MUCH LESS PRIDE when I see my QB looking at the sideline. I am ashamed to be an NDSU supporter now and I can't believe people will still support this team.

    You pud.

The whole checking with the sideline thing bugs me for some reason, but then I'm almost a boomer and hate it when players have to signal every first down or jump around like they just won the game on the last play after tackling a kick returner at the 24 yard line.

My "favorite" is when a player makes a solid tackle and jumps up, flexes or does some pose to show how strong they are and mime something about do't come my way ... and their team is down by 24 points in the fourth.

Right, it’s not for them to signal every first down. That’s the fans job. No wonder everyone leaves early. They’ve been replaced by the players and have no role.
