The end goal I've seen stated is for the SEC and B1G to become powerful enough to split off and basically own the whole pie. Take the top 48 or so brands and hold your own championships. This is another way to accomplish the P5/G5 split, and they can be selective at who comes along. It becomes the professional tier of college sports with 90%+ of the revenues. Think NFC vs AFC. They could have subdivisions (pods) in each conference, which already seems to be developing.

    UW/UO ... sure.
But until someone shows how FSU and Clemson get out of the ACC GOR (shows case law) I'm not buying it.

PS - UW/UO go will trigger UAz to go in a heartbeat.
PPS - WasSU and OrSu have to be hatin' life about now.

Not to mention Cal & Stanford.
North Dakota State, a football team the big boys of college football should avoid like the plague, helped christen a $90 million renovation to Snyder Family Stadium — including a statue of famed Kansas State coach Bill Snyder himself — by taking a sledgehammer to the place.

Cali-Stan is the enigma. I believe the academic mullahs on those campuses would be happier in the Ivy ... at most.

The UC Davis arena doesn't look that bad compared to what we have with the SHAC. https://ucdavisaggies.com/facilities...union-center/5

The Sac State "Nest" on the other hand is similar to the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse. https://hornetsports.com/facilities/the-nest/2

Makes the Bison Sports Arena (our old arena) look great in comparison. Yikes!
It's OK to not be OK.

Having sub par facilities hurts an individual school's bottom line but conferences look for lots of things in expansion candidates. TV and streaming providers don't care how big a G5 stadium or gym might be. The do care about how many "potential" viewers a school can generate. For the MW the only thing the providers care about is air time slots in the Pacific and Mountain time zones. They know the only people watching MW games at night are MW fans in those time zones. There aren't a whole lot of viewers in the current footprint hence the very small tv deal.

I don't think NDSU, by itself, would draw enough potential new viewers to make a much difference in the future tv deals but if they were added with some other, out of the region, schools that might generate a wider viewership.

That could be a very good thing for the MW. That is the only reason they have ever looked towards Texas in the past. However, it appears that the MW is now looking more inward, smaller, tighter and regional.

Still, the really serious cash is going to schools that already are loaded and that means other schools are chasing that cash. That could result in the end of the MW in short order. Or, the MW could be still standing after the smoke clears. I really have no idea what will come next.

You could be looking at an opportunity or out of business sign. It is all up in the air.

No conference is adding the 4th or 5th best team in a region, like Texas for the eyeballs. It's 100% for recruiting of both athletes and students.

No one is watching UNT on Saturdays accept a few hundred UNT alumn.
