Guess which schools/conferences are in the running for the NY6 access slot this year (soon to be CFP)?
AAC/MWC/SBC. So, if this is all about CFP bids, landing in one of those 3 is an absolute requirement.

If you want the top 12 teams in the playoff then no one from these conferences would even sniff it this year.

They’re going to throw the g5 a bone by guaranteeing them a spot for the highest rated G5 team, whether they’re in the top 12 or not. Essentially that team would be the G5 “champion”.

CUSA and MAC would take an undefeated season with at least one p5 win to get that spot. You could probably have a loss in the AAC, MWC or SBC. It gives you a little more margin for error. That being said, approx. 60 teams vying for one spot is always going to be a long shot. Not arguing for us to join CUSA, just pointing out the difference is very slight as it relates to a path to the CFP.

Yeah I suppose NDSU hoops, baseball etc have a chance at a natty too. Odds are similar.
