For a lot of people a chance at the CFP is better than winning an FCS championship.

THIS IS THE BOTTOM LINE.. this should be printed in big letters above David Cook/Matt Larsons offices

The facility is top notch but given the fact that we had numerous needs to invest in, it is a bit questionable to me. If an FBS conference said that if we built a practice facility we would get an invite, than great. That doesn’t seem to be the case. Our two biggest rivals, SDSU and UND recently built indoor track/football practice facilities. To me it feels like this was a bit of about one upping those rivals.
That's sorta where I'm at with it too.

Hopefully any future funds raised are directed at basketball. Having a good basketball program (or the resources in place to be one) makes NDSU more attractive in some fashion

HC and basketball arena... Don't see increased spending in either area as likely though in the near term unfortunately.

I think the athletic department understands what the priorities are.

How long did it take to raise 25 million or whatever it was so renovate the basketball arena? How long did it take to raise 50 million for the IPF?

If donors REALLY want money to go to round ball they can donate there money to a fund where they can direct that money to the sport they are interested in.

I’m fairly certain that the SHAC renovation was $50 million as well. However it did take longer to raise that money than the IPF. Could have been because it was football specific or it could be because the SHAC fundraising was started prior to any real success in D1 because of the transition period, whereas the IPF fundraising was started after multiple FCS championships and NCAA tournament appearances.

    Its a catch 22 situation.

People want to back something that is successful, but it takes money to find that success.
A splash hire for a coach could help, but that takes money too.

To really make it happen would probably require using funds that aren't earmarked.
We should start with a stated goal to win the Summit every year, its not a power league.

Find a really good coach that will take a bonus heavy contract for NCAA wins.
