A new and better FBS thread

If this particular scenario does happen and the PAC2 is OSU and WSU, is it only a philosophical question if they're still the PAC? A few pages back I posted a short history of failed conferences, at least one conference dropped FBS football in the first half of each decade since the FBS was created. Yes, conferences are hard to kill, which is why it only happens once a decade. But it absolutely does happen, and almost like clockwork.

The P3 will survive by raiding the G5 and the G5 will survive by raiding lesser G5/FCS. If any conference dies, it will be CUSA. P3/G4 will consolidate as the 2nd level. No question, the PAC would choose to become G5-level conference before it chooses to die. But I think even that’s a stretch …

Here’s another prediction - NDSU will easily make the cut to the 2nd level but UND will not, and I’d say the majority of their fanbase agrees. D1 FCS is the perfect place for a hockey school in a state like ND, and I’d wager the SBOHE agrees too. Competing at the 2nd level of CFB is not going to be a cheap endeavor …

But we’ll see how it plays out. No offense to anyone intended. Just reading the tea leaves and being as frank as possible

If you're trying to say the Board won't act against NDSU's interests you are completely divorced from reality. As for my theory of them saying no, it's just a theory and I've always said that. In a thread devoted to possible scenarios I consider it valid discussion. I have exactly as many sources for this as you do for MWC membership.

I agree with everything except the P3 raiding G5. If we do get a P3 instead of P5 it's because they want nothing to do with the peons(in their eyes). G5 and FCS are equally worthless to them. If a P3 becomes real it will raid P5 and probably kill PAC. More of a consolidation with losers stepping down than winners stepping up. At least IMHO. I completely agree UND and USD aren't ready for FBS and possibly never will be.

I also think it's important to split what [I/you/they] want to happen with what [I/you/they] think will happen. I'm pretty confident my dream scenario won't happen, but that won't stop me from advocating for it just in case.

They will do whatever circumstance dictates in order to survive in FBS. Look at how quickly the PAC flipped its script on playoff expansion. And they see G5 as FBS and FCS as D2. I think I'm being pretty objective. I try not to be a homer when parsing the future landscape of FBS, but NDSU is much better positioned than you seem to want to admit
