Well Nebraska is a pretty recognizable school on its own. Although, their athletics have been terrible and it hurts Nebraska's brand with me but I can just speak for me. Alabama is huge throughout the south, for no reason other than their football success throughout the last decade.

A better comparison for this discussion is how does a degree from San Diego State get perceived vs a degree from Cal Poly Pomona? Georgia vs. Georgia State? Central Michigan vs Northern Michigan?
Mountain West, hope for the best.

The whole point of this thread is a discussion on what we should be doing to make sure we’re ready when they do start looking.
I'm not sure we've seen the full impact of UCLA/USC yet.
Some commentary I've read suggests it will take at least 6 months or so for this to filter down thru PAC/MWC.
The PAC media deal will influence what comes next.

Not saying we're getting an invite, but the possibility exists of MWC losing a few schools to the PAC.

In terms of what NDSU can do, we're already doing part of it.
Comes down to improving facilities, winning across multiple sports, strong fanbase support.
To a lesser degree, academics can play a role also.

In the southern states, without question. Unless Nebraska has some prominent programs. Nationally, no idea.

This is a nice little overview of the tv deals.

Almost impossible to handicap. Although the odds are better now than they've ever been. Wildly speculating, maybe 40% that any one of the following takes place:

-MWC (would almost certainly need two or more schools to get taken by PAC/B12)
-MAC (again, best chance would be if schools got swallowed by AAC/Sun Belt)
-MVFC/Big Sky joint move up (low chance, although it would probably be the most logical solution for all parties - the schools involved, rest of FCS, rest of FBS)

I'm all for any of the above moves. To me, any additional shakeup of the status quo is good as it will trickle down. Hopefully one of those dominoes involves NDSU.
Mountain West, hope for the best.

Nice article, though about a year out of date.

My understanding of G5 current status:

AAC - "legacy" schools get $7m, the new additions get $2m. Might change when renegotiated.
MAC - numbers seem correct, roughly 670k each
CUSA - $400k for 2022, nothing yet for 2023, highly likely to decrease
SBC - was renegotiated, rumored to be in $1-2m range per school. Numbers not officially published.
MWC - seems correct, $4m based on avail info.

Notre Dame - believe I saw NBC was improving their contract significantly

Worth noting that depending on the contracts, realignment can change the media numbers if schools are lost or gained.
SHSU is not worth what Marshall and USM were, and Boise wouldn't be worth what USC was.

40% feels extremely overconfident. I'd say <5%, and if Notre Dame doesn't move that drops to around 0 in the next 12 months. Nobody's raiding the MAC.I have doubts any would accept a SB/AAC offer even if it came.
No f'n way any MVC teams are moving to the Big Sky. Non-starter. Plus most of the schools in a Big Valley mashup aren't even remotely ready for FBS.
MWC keeps coming up despite absolutely no indication they've ever looked at us. We're not a good fit at this time and an invite in the next year means they've become desperate. Definitely won't be joining the MWC as you know it now.

I continue to think you're spot on regarding the MWC. They've shown no interest in us. No reason to think otherwise. People holding out for a MWC invite will likely be very disappointed if we stay hunkered down and wait for things to shake out.

I just don't know why you and I then don't agree that we have to find a different FBS path in the meantime (...one that will hopefully make us attractive in the future to the MWC or AAC, if that's where we want to end up).
I don't care what Jim says. That is not the real Ben Franklin. I'm 99% certain.
