But we get it. You'll miss us. Some of us will miss you too, apparently, but not me.

Not directly related, but per Dabo's comments, if you look at what he's really saying (internal P5 split), it will be many years, probably over a decade or more, before there is any movement toward a break within FBS. I figured the wait-for-the-split crowd were all over his comments last week, but the devils in the details, and what he's really asking for would take a long time to sort out. This beast has both gobs of money and tons if inertia, and change like that in p5 college FB will likely occur at a glacial pace.
I don’t think it would take long to sort out. The amount of money to be made would speed up the initial details and the others could be ironed out as you moved along.

Some of the new rules in college sports actually help with what would have been the most difficult details/differences which makes me believe it’s closer than some think. The large schools don’t put rules in place to even the playing field.

They couldn’t even find consensus on playoff expansion. How will the P5 come to a decision on who goes to the premier league and who stays with the G5?

Regardless, the time for NDSU to move up is here. “Wait-for-the-split” is no longer a valid argument.

it would HELP our non football sports.
let's face it, we aren't exactly killing it last few years in all sports like we should. so raising the playing field will help us get better recruits & have better athletes

They are already slowly making the decisions on who moves up. It’s happening within the Big10, Pac12, ACC and SEC. The amount of money when it’s time will quickly drive the rest. Dabo is not thinking this all up in his own, more repeating what everyone is already talking about.

No doubt he's just repeating stuff, but I'm highly skeptical they'll partition the P5 within a decade, for exactly the same reason you cite: money. If you have a link that says it is imminent, please post it.

Seems like they’re publicly negotiating the new rules of the road under the devolved constitution, which probably means they don’t think they’re getting enough of what they want.

Exactly. It's a bluff. They want NIL, but they don't want to come out and say it, and they want to stay under the banner of the NCAA, while creating a semipro FB league. Sorry, but I'm skeptical.

Finding agreement within a conference is one thing, getting consensus across the P5 is quite another. Sounds like they want to keep hoops intact? What about everything else? It will take more than a decade.

Again, if anyone has any links, please post them. Otherwise it's just hearsay.

P5 Got what they wanted a couple of years ago. They get most of the money and for all intents and purposes they only follow the rules they want to.

Dont know why some think there is going to be a big split. G5 is happy thinking they are big and they still get to play in the bowl system and get paid for it.

Killing it is what 10 inches of heavy wet snow on your deck does to your body mind soul in middle April. Shovel it for the dog. Where's Odin? Odin pro Bullet Train.
