Mountain West and MAC both make plenty of sense for NDSU, it's whether it makes sense for those conferences which has been the tough part

Been hearing rumblings from people that would definitely know better that there's something in the works that will probably get announced this off-season. Nothing that I've heard has been concrete and definitive, but it sounds FBS and it's not CUSA. All has been "friend of a friend", but it's been multiple unrelated sources saying the same thing and I trust the people I'm hearing it from. All pointing towards an FBS move that would make people pretty happy.

Could just be smoke, and it could just be Matt Larsen ninja decoy flares, but I'm don't think so. Rest easy FBSers there may be hope

I do hope you are correct. If it happens, it would go a long way toward rehabiliting my view of the athletics administration. But there's been a lot of these bigfoot sightings that have not panned out, so I'm sceptical (though I don't blame you for being optimistic--you know the quality of your sources and they are pointing you toward hope). If such a move has been in the works, then I just can't fathom why it hasn't already been announced or at least intimated while DB is still here. If it is pushed off until the next president, there's not guarantee that the new president will get on board. That tells me that if something is in the works, it is at the early stages and a lot of hurdles still need navigating, including support of the new administration.

At this point how much of your acceptance of the MAC is just from wanting us to shut up?

Oddly enough our points of view are pretty similar, I just let the zealots spew their stuff without wasting the breath to call them out

Yeah, who knows. The next 11 months for me is big "shit or get off the crapper" time. It would be one thing if he just came out and said "we're trying but no one wants us" or "we're trying and we like where our conversations are going". But to say "we're ready to think about it" isn't doing anything for anyone.

The job is a lot more complicated than you me or anyone probably understands. Doesn't make it that much less frustrating though
