I have the honor to be Your Obedient Servant - B.Aud
We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie
I seldomly post, but what is the issue with getting a vaccination? No religion tells you to not protect yourself. Wentz can easily fix this by getting the vaccine. Or if he is uncomfortable with mRNA there is the single-dose J&J vaccine. Polio, smallpox et all are gone now because of this.
Wentz is a money maker for the Colts. He needs to be on the field and his decision to not be vaccinated hurts the bottom line and the team. Didn't realize this country devolved into some rock chewing, horse paste eating morons so quickly.
To be fair a number of religions discourage numerous medical interventions even to the level of blood transfusions. Such beliefs and practices however should rightly be relegated to the dust bin of history. Especially those that relate to infectious diseases that prolong and worsen outbreaks due to their backwards ignorant beliefs. Oh, I forgot. We are supposed to coddle the morons so that maybe they'll pull their heads out of the asses.
The Bible actually preaches mask-wearing and quarantining in Leviticus. Obviously vaccines weren’t a thing yet, but practices to isolate and stop the spread of infectious diseases are definitely advocated in the Bible. Anyone using Christianity as an excuse to thwart disease prevention practices apparently hasn’t read the Bible.
I have lived in other countries that are more religious than the US. Everyone gets their kids vaccinated. There is not even a question of not doing it, yes there are some backward sects that tell you not to get medical help but most of the modern world doesn't work like this.
NFL just needs to mandate vaccines like many workplaces are going to be doing. If you want to play you make sure you protect yourself and others.
People have read that same book for centuries and found competing justifications for all kinds of beliefs and practices. I would agree though that today's antivaccination push is as much if not more so political as it is religious. What is religious is more about the increasing political influence on religion than any actual spiritual dogmatic beliefs.
Mandating a vaccine that does not stop the spread of the disease is a little weird. It is scientifically proven in Israel if you don't want to trust our govt science. If Wentz had Covid he is better off than having vaccine as has been scientifically proven as well.
If it flies it dies.
Long for the days of freezing in the south stands of Dacotah Field.
