UND post-game thoughts.

Listened to Jack's show on 740 this afternoon, he had a UND doctor on who said people should contact the legislature and ask them to force the game upon NDSU every year. The taxpayers deserve this game apparently. When Pinto brought up the money NDSU could lose, he was like the money doesn't matter and was like the schools should split the revenue every year.

The doc also said that the state could pay both teams to play each other to make up money lost playing FBS. Jack said the oil companies need to build a 40,000 seat stadium in the center of North Dakota to play the NDSU vs Un_ game in every year. After Pinto brought up Un_ joining the same conference, the doc said he wants the old NCC started back up. Pinto said NDSU wouldn't want to give up a 6th game to play Un_.

Will not get a game every year until:

UN_ is in same conference (most likely?)
UN_ builds a larger stadium of 25-30,000(+) (unlikely until 30+ years and only slightly after that)
UN_ pays a huge ransom and we don't need a 6th home game and we need a 11/12th game (very unlikely)
NDSU goes 0-11/12 for 5 straight years and fan interest falls off the cliff (impossible)

I said back when this game was scheduled that I thought NDSU would lose some of their "bargain" power but I don't think so. NDSU can pretty much play the doesn't make money sense card all day long until one of the scenarios happens above.

I liked bubbles post game comment on playing every year. Yeah I saw what tickets where going for then stutters. You know he was thinking yeah I saw what those tickets went for and we can't even get rid of season tickets that are free if not delivered in a half hour.

I believe he played football for UND.

Pinto was on his game for a change, basically told the guy if UND wants an annual game then they should join the MVFC.

Hockey, he was a goalie. Graduated from Fargo south. Was a Qb for the Bruins started as a freshman in hockey and football. Could of played bb to.

I think Bison fans/alums would go ballistic if a home game was sacrificed to go to their dump to play a game.

Well, none of my dire predictions came true. Where are the whiny GFH new stories calling NDSU fans racists because the student section chanted "Sioux suck shit?" Doesn't sound like Heitkamp has gone down that road either. What the heck? Has the world gone crazy?

BTW, I heard the Doc on 740... the worst I can say is that, like many UND folks, he just doesn't have much understanding of the realities of DI. For example, we aren't going to be able to reform the NCC as a brand new DI conference - and wouldn't want to even if we could. He also seemed to think that UNI might leave the Missouri Valley to join the new NCC. More encouragingly, I thought that he was saying that NDSU should be compensated for scheduling UND... either by getting more of the gate or by a fat check from the state.

Pinto nailed it: The answer for UND is joining the MVFC/Summit. That said, if the SAT had a section called "Going DI", UND would get every answer in it wrong, including the part where they have to fill in their name (obviously) so I suspect that UND will cling to idea that the Big Sky is awesome for them just as desperately as they cling to their other delusions.

Finally, Jack was off on the stadium location... build that big stadium in Fargo on the condition that NDSU schedule UND every year. Now that's a plan that NDSU folks could get behind.
