Or NDSU would have to go on a steady decline, but I don't see that happening anytime in the forseeable future. 4 consecutive championships tends to put a bit of stability in a program.
Weber State isn't a bunch of arrogant entitled jerks for fans, your fans base is. Weber has never threatened to go to the ND legislature and force NDSU to play them, your fans have/will. I could go on but what is the point? The UND fan base will continue to try and give NDSU as much bad rep as they can, while screaming about how significant their program is. IMO, UND is using NDSU to try and elevate their program, it is the pioux way. Your fan base feels entitled to an annual home/home contract with NDSU, I do not. NDSU has achieved something very few programs, in the history of football, ever have, without any cooperation from El'Forko. That's the way I like it.

I don't totally disagree with you. Of course playing NDSU would help UND. Playing strong competition is always good for a program, especially within the regions. I completely disagree with the way UND handled the ending of the rivalry. Had it not been for that, maybe this would be an annual game. Who knows? It doesn't really matter at this point. Yep, your program has been simply phenomenal with 4 consecutive championships (should be 5, I still call BS on the E Wash game; blown call cost you guys the game).

As for the arrogant fan base? Sure, we have some of "those" fans. So does NDSU, and the U of M, and SDSU, and every other collegiate fan base out there. Unfortunately, there are arrogant jerks everywhere.

Also, lets not kid ourselves. Schools don't generally schedule, or not schedule, teams based on the opposing fan base. If that were the case there would be no rivalry games anywhere. Or this particular rivalry would have ended long before it did.

Most rivalries are conference games. That is where your leadership really hurt you. Until they figure that out, your entitled fan base can keep dreaming.

It was those arrogant fans on the local talk radio programs, blasting NDSU coaches and administration. UND brings a real carnival atmosphere wherever they go, loud mouths barking, trying to make themselves relevant by whoiux can scream the loudest. Then you get guys like Big Eddie and Joel H stirring the UND fan pot, the result was/is nothing but a steaming pile of crap for NDSU. Personally, I don't want any.

UND should have changed their name a long time ago.
UND should have gone Division I right away.
UND should have been in the same conference with all the other Dakota schools.

If all that had happened, this would still be a yearly game. I agree that it's not presently in the best interest for NDSU to schedule a yearly game with UND OOC.

Hope UND loves the Big Sky. Maybe they can get a rivalry going with Northern Colorado? They don't have an instate rival either.
Agree only would add as -a. to your first bullet, get the tribes on board to support it no matter what came up in the future (easier said than done) and they could have did what FSU did with Seminole tribe, obviously on a smaller scale.

Started reading BI from this month, interesting comment from Dale Lennon in his interview but think most here already knew that was how he felt about it, likely a reason (of many probably) why he ended up at SIU rather than staying at UN_. Unless the footprint for Big Sky drastically changes in the shakeup of P5/G5 FBS schools UN_ is in a less than optimal spot geographically for Big Sky, if Big Sky does fulfill it's wet dream and move up to FBS level than probably wouldn't matter as much, just want to say though I don't think that will happen with the current group they have until the P5 break free from G5.

Agreed, it was discussed earlier. This will not be an annual rivalry unless we are in the same conference OR unless UND was a competitive contender on a annual basis. That could make it worth doing.

As has been said numerous times, there is nothing for NDSU to gain by playing UND every year, particularly with where the program is currently. UND gets better, NDSU gets worse (not likely), a move to the same conference are really the only ways this becomes consistently annual.

Its a nice thought for a casual fan, a fun perspective, or a nostalgic fans perspective; but that doesn't mean it would make sense from a school/program/business perspective.

I'm on board of the side where I think they should play every year. It's great for the state in my honest opinion. I bet it's close to 99% of the people of this great state want it to continue. Let em play. Bison 41 UN_ 10

I'm with ya, I know I'd love to see it. I just understand why it doesn't happen, or at least why it hasn't happened yet.
