I agree. Mertens will start baring some kind of super recruit or transfer. However I think he will have a much shorter leash and we could see Mohler early on in the year should he struggle.

I would think A J Westendorp is their new number 1 quarterback recruit. Great stats, excellent grades, perfect size. Whether that is enough to unseat Mertens, I dont' know. But no matter who is the starter, I will bet Bohl does not have the patience that he had this past year. At least now he will have other options.

There is an article in a Michigan paper today that had a sports writer guessing on some items. He predicted AJ would sign with a MAC school. Also, as may have been posted, a QB decommitted from Michigan and signed with Toledo, so AJ may be back on their radar now. He has to be the #1 target. No question, at least from the list we have identified. Still holding out hope for a transfer.

I have a feeling that if A J Westendorp is able to make his official visit that he has scheduled for January then the coaches will get him to commit before he even leaves campus.

Some recruiting info I found today.

The 32 rushing touchdowns of Edina quarterback Anders Lee had fans from around the state wondering what kind of football interest he would receive but it seems as Lee will stick with hockey.

"The recruiting process is going ok," Anders stated. "I will be playing hockey in college due to how the football recruiting is going. So basically it's been pretty slow."

Taylor Nelson TE Minnetonka:

"I took an official to NDSU in late November," Nelson said. "I haven't committed (to any school) yet. I have five offers still; Buffalo, NDSU, South Dakota, Northern Iowa, and North Dakota. Northern Illinois is coming up to a basketball game in early January so an offer could come from them."

Pelican Rapids quarterback Tydan Storrusten is still unsure what sport he will play but three schools continue to show the most interest.

"North Dakota State, North Dakota and Minnesota-Duluth have been the three main schools," Storrusten stated previously. "I don't know if I will play football, basketball or baseball. I want to keep my options open."

QB question. Anyone hearing anything? Anders Lee looks like he is playing hockey. The kid from Pelican Rapids is barely being recruited, probably not offered and isn't sure what sport he will play. The STUD from Michigan is going to get recruited HARD by the MAC schools. What are the other options?
