Gimmestad is an impressive athlete. He could be a stud on the O line!
Check out this quote from his recent basketball game...
Tyler Gimmestad, Marshall, senior - The NDSU football recruit is one of the most players to watch in the state on the court. At 270, 275, 280 pounds or whatever, this bear is very nimble with unbelievable ball skills and touch on his shot. He scored 17 points fast in the game starting with two treys and than a couple attacks off a sweet crossover. His totals were 26 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists and he's just outstanding to watch play.

Oops. I swear I had him on there before - figure I must have accidentally deleted the line while changing the post for something else.
Also added Grothman to the "offered" list.

Great. Thanks for the info. My buddy who follows Gopher recruiting thinks this kid is the real deal. Great frame.
Re: 2009 Recruiting: Quick Reference
Question, is Gimmestad projected as a gaurd or tackle on the OL or a DT or NG on the DL.

Defensive line is what I read.

The minnesotapreps.com cover boy today is another one of our verbals...

Kevin Vaadeland from Park Rapids....it is a question and answer with Minnesota Preps and Kevin. I love how it mentions that UND is still contacting him after he has verballed to us. Stay classy UND!!!
MP: Are you still looking to attend North Dakota State and what other schools have you had contact with?
KV: I am still committed to attending NDSU. Some of the other schools that have called in the last month or two are Minnesota-Duluth, North Dakota, Buffalo. I have been getting mail from UCONN, Miami, NC State and New Mexico, to name a few of the bigger ones.
MP: Why did you pick NDSU?
KV: I picked NDSU because they are relatively close to home and the campus is very easy to get around. They are also very successful.
Re: 2009 Recruiting: Quick Reference
wow.. im speechless.
new 2 year extension burgandy, you gotta hit the pavement and give those recruits that last question: "are you sure you don't want to play exciting football in a tin shed?? I just got a 2 year contract, are you sure? please?? pretty please??"

But you didn't have a problem when NDSU continued contact with Obarski a year ago after he verballed to UND? That's why it's a verbal.
Re: 2009 Recruiting: Quick Reference
Good point. You can have Obarski back.
Re: 2009 Recruiting: Quick Reference
Is there something wrong with him?
Re: 2009 Recruiting: Quick Reference
Nope. I was just kidding around.

I think this kid has an amazing future for us. How good are our DE's going to be??? WOW. Great job by the coaches. You can tell they have an affect on these kids.
Chilton TE/DE Justin Juckem (6-foot-5, 245) has received scholarship offers from coast to coast. From Washington State to Boston College and places in between.
This week he sat down and evaluated everything each school had to offer and came to a conclusion. "I verbally commited to North Dakota State University. It simply was the best fit."
That was music to the ears of the Bison coaching staff. "The coaches were very pleased to hear I would become one of them especially with all the other close offers."
Juckem was quick to return the appreciation. "The biggest reason I want to be a Bison is because of the coaches. They are very personable and have shown people that they can win and be successful."
So how tough was it turning down offers from some BCS schools? "Obiviously Boston College and Washington State are two big offers, but I took a lot of time in trying to see myself going to each school and NDSU seemed right. If I were to go to Boston College, I would have to get my degree through MIT or Harvard and Washington State I beleive needs to still get on the winning track. With saying that, all the schools that offered are perfect schools, it all depends on the person that has chosen to go there."
Juckem also turned down offers from Army and the University of North Dakota.

Keep Obarski, let's give them Mertens and Bibeau.
Re: 2009 Recruiting: Quick Reference
My wife has several brothers that live in the Marshall area, and they save Gimmestad is a top notch player. My nephew plays basketball for Southwest State at Marshall, and he used to play football too. I want to talk to him and see what he has to say about Tyler, but it's finals week, so I don't want to bug him now.
Re: 2009 Recruiting: Quick Reference
Added Danny Luecke (big frame, good athlete from Fargo South) and Nicholas Hill from Milwaukee South (LB recruit).
