Anyone know about the QB from SD where he is interested in going or who's offered him a scholly
Bison would be fools not to offer James Peterson from Blaine i think. He's the real deal.
I saw Pioneer Press article in which they announced that they named him Minnesota Player of the Year - they said that Concordia-St. Paul, St. Cloud State and Augustana are the schools in the running.

as far as it being hard 2 compete in 2 sports look south 200 miles and at a kid named erick decker... an u will see how it is done
It can be done with some positions and NDSU has had some players do it recently. However, it doesn't work out for QBs. Lots to learn in that position when it comes to the offense and they miss spring practice because of baseball they lose out on those repetitions.
it can be done but it is not easy and not for everyone
Got an Addition for the offer list
Ryan Drevlow - DE - Gwinner, ND (Milnor/North Sargent) 6'5" 240lbs

Link I found on Varmah Sonie. Anyone have a scout account to see if he holds offers or to see if larger interest has come along?
Hopefully some committments start to come in within these next two weeks before Christmas it would be nice to get some areas taken care of, I wish we could find out more whats going on outside of the upper midwest.
This was on the pioneer press website from the all-state team
VARMAH SONIE, APPLE VALLEY, DB, SR.
His versatility kept him on the field at defensive back, wide receiver and on returns. Had 41 receptions, 36 carries and six interceptions. Also accounted for nine touchdowns (three on punt returns, two on interceptions, one rushing and three receiving). Finished career with 18 interceptions and 10 touchdowns on returns.
Quick Update on Varmah, I did some asking around today and found out that he was offered a scholarship by the Gophers and that is what the scout.com article is about, I'm assuming :hide: but from everything I have heard from people is that he does not want to go there so I think we still have a chance

There is a kid that only has an offer from us.
Added Matt Kerswill (WR, DB, P, etc) to the list and updated Justin Juckem's status (yay!). He's from D.C. Everest (not sure which town he lives in) in Wisconsin. Also wondering if NDSU is going after the WI Gatorade POY, Ben Erickson - from his highlight tape he reminded me of a cross between TR MacDonald and Tim Strehlow.
Looks like Volk commited to Northern Illinois, you can delete this post when you see it tony

According to Kolpack, Tyler Gimmestad has verballed.

Also an interesting note on a safety transfer from Wyoming, Brian Kuhtz.
Gimmestad had offers from UNI, UND, USD and NDSU....and the winner is....FARGO!!!!!
"The University of South Dakota, University of North Dakota, Northern Iowa, and North Dakota State University have all offered," Gimmestad stated. "I have not taken any visits yet, but plan on taking trips to Northern Illinois and North Dakota State. Northern Illinois has shown the most interest, along with NDSU, UND, UNI, and USD."
Kuhtz was a 2 star safety out of high school when he signed with Wyoming according to Rivals. Not a ton of info on him. There is an article on the big kid that signed, sounds like he isn't scared of hitting anyone. Said he laid a hit on a kid that nobody in attendence will ever forget. NICE.
How many scholarships do the Bison have to give out? Coach Stig said SDSU only had 9 or 10 this year, which is low.
Seems our season record this past year isn't affecting recruits......could it be the excellent university, the workmanlike team attitude, the outstanding coaches, the great tradition, the FBS caliber facilities, the high level of fan interest, or the vibrant city environment that helped make the decision? Funny how SDSU fans said their second win in a row against NDSU would bolster their recruiting. Wonder if that really makes any difference? How is SDSU's recruiting going compared to NDSU? Any head to head wins / losses?
Personally I do not thing that 1 off season will affect recruiting to much. String a bunch together and it would have more effect. And having solid progressive academic programs never hurts recruiting either.
NDSU and SDSU do not seem to do much head to head recruiting except for the athletes from South Dakota.
Look at the great recruiting class Babich had following the 2-8 2002 season. (Mays, Walker, Drago and company)
I think I recall everyone thought Mays was going to be a stud. As for Drago, he was more highly thought of as a tall wide receiver that was expected to do good things......turns out he used his foot better than his hands. We must have believed Walker could contribute right away though we had no proof other than HS performance. When Stauss looked bad a game or two before the UNC meltdown we all wanted Walker in. Apparently he sucked at practice so Bohl was afraid to put him in. What a surprise to Bohl when Walker took the reigns and executed with confidence.
I heard the opposite...
When I was a GA for the Sports Information Department in 03-04, one of my softball buddies was a student-trainer for the football squad. From what he saw, he told me that Walker was the going to be the real deal (even though he was only a redshirt) because he was so good at practice. When I was watching Steve during his senior year, I always thought of my friend's comments.
It is interesting the reasons kids have for attending certain schools. You can never be certain why they would choose one school over another. Academics, location, how they interact with other recruits on thier visit, how they interact with coaches, an undescriptive word "feel" for one university over another. My favorite example of this was the recruiting class of which I was a part, 2002. UND was coming off of a national championship and NDSU did not make the playoffs. NDSU absolutely killed UND in head to head recruting in the state of North Dakota that year. All of the high profile players within North Dakota chose NDSU over UND. Why? Who knows. All you can do in recruiting is show a player what you have to offer and the rest is up to them. Some players can be convinced, others know where they want to go and no amount of talking or reasoning can convince them otherwise. Ryan Chappell is a great example of this. I hosted him on his recruiting visit to NDSU and neither him nr his father would stop talking to me about UND. He did not even attempt to listen to anything we were telling him, he had made up his mind before he came down.
