I will admit Gene was a tough act to follow but that does not mean his successor had to be an abysmal failure.
Gene left to go to Iowa

If I’m Coach P, the first player I’d be talking into stayin would be CP, then EG, but I pretty sure CP is portaling.

Rebuilding, not reloading.

Quick story...I was a student at NDSU during the transition. The day that the Big Sky turned us down for a conference invite I ran into Gene Taylor at the copy shop in the union. We were both waiting to get something printed so we briefly chatted. His eyes were red and you could tell he'd had a rough day. He just had the look of somebody who'd had their heart broken. I asked him something along the lines of "what now for NDSU" and he responded that he was convinced that NDSU would be a huge success in DI and that it was his job to ensure the big sky regretted their decision. Boy, did he ever. I've never gotten that kind of passion from ADML and have always felt that he wasn't the big vision guy.
Gene Taylor is right up there with Klieman in terms of being once in a generation type hire. Gene was super approachable - he remembered MY name for some dumb reason, I'm literally nobody with really zero to give NDSU other a few dollars of support.

So why is Polasek not on the list for the Wyoming job?

New Sheriff in town, wants his own crew I'd imagine.
Their loss, our gain.

Re: Welcome back HC Polasek
Welcome back Coach Polasek! I will be very anxious to hear his presser and whether or not he views this as a rebuild or reload. With all of the seniors and the potential portalling, it has the feel of a rebuild. I think Bison Nation will be somewhat patient, but if SDSU continues to roll, it will be a pressure cooker.
-
Re: Welcome back HC Polasek
Hire a DC that teaches/coaches tackling not hugging. So tired of this upper body tackle technique instead of taking the legs out. Also, is it good tackling technique to dive at runners ankles? Our D line is unathletic.

Re: Welcome back HC Polasek
Maxwell Woods just flipped to SDSU and SDSU also offered the Fargo North kid. Jacks raiding the Bison recruiting class. Polasek better shore up the recruits.

If we make the semifinals next year, that would be a good showing with all that is changing.
Hope this year is the floor though, and we don't see more than 3 losses in conference. Another year or two going unseeded would be rough.

Fuck the jacks. Can't believe we have recruits going there now.
Hope the Griz destroy them and run up the score.

Welcome and congrats HC TP, glad to have you back in the Herd! Best of luck getting the arrow pointed north again with the FB program.

Almost as dumb as you thinking Scottie Hazelton was a candidate.

Go to brookings and play in a half empty stadium on game day. In the playoffs.
If they aren’t pushing their ‘dynasty’ of one championship (and yes they might have two) they must be heralding the fact that they have a taco John’s
It’s the kids choice and he made it. It is what it is

Our dome is usually only half full also. Our fans are spoiled and dont need ro show up anymore

Re: Welcome back HC Polasek
Polasek, get your ass out there and get us some fucking recruits! Big time recruits. Make the RB a great position again at NDSU. Quit running the QB as much as we have. On a one off sure here and there but not as predictable as it’s been the last 2 years. Add Screens and quick slants to the passing game.

Half empty stadium? Have you been to a NDSU game lately?

Every one. For years.
Haven’t been freezing my a$$ off in the dome either.
They can’t possibly be ‘bored’ with winning. And I can understand a family not being able to come to Bison games because of the cost. But SDSU tics were $7

Re: Welcome back HC Polasek
Welcome back Coach! Really hope Tyler sticks around and grows a couple more years. I'd love to see him get the HC job some day, but he's just not there yet. Could be some growing pains, but I'll be happy if we see better discipline next year.

This is when Bohl introduced Polasek as new OC. He just gets it

Re: Welcome back HC Polasek
I guess getting us all to contribute to the Green and Gold Collective was their parting gift to the guys they will be leaving behind.
Player retention management will be the next big growth in consultant opportunities. NDSU hasn't hired one yet, have they?
-
Re: Welcome back HC Polasek
Anyone see what time the Press Conference for Coach Polasek is today, or did I miss it?

Player retention management and NDSU needs to start poaching other teams. Cant get left behind.

If I had one big concern last year, it was lack of focus on trying to find some more back end defensive players after the mass defection. The game was changing in front of our eyes, and I'm not sure NDSU had figured out how to adapt. Fingers crossed with G and G we are starting figure this out. Not sure we can stick with we only take a transfer we have a past relationship with. Conversely, careful thought has to be given to culture issues this creates. I don't pretend to have the answers.

I like this post but with the last sentence maybe Bisonville on a Monday morning isn’t for you? (Purple)

Big Game Tyler went back to his Concordia days there eh?

In my mind there’s a pretty clear distinction between trying to poach players at every position vs. realizing where the team has MASSIVE deficiencies. Safety and corner were those positions for us this year. I think if we would’ve picked up one of each in the portal last year there’s not a player on roster that takes issue with it.

Yes, I tend to agree with you. That is probably the balance one must tip toe. Conversely, I have to give Entz a huge thumbs up moving Cole Wisniewski. That is really his natural position and sets him up better for an NFL shot. I really think he may be able to make it. (I'm sure that was part of the thought process of why they did not move on portal folks.)
