Is there something traditionally about Boise not wanting to be in a conference with Idaho/Idaho State?
iirc there is also something about New Mexico not wanting anything to do with NMSU.
So if the Boise thing is real, then go get Sacramento State/Cal Davis.
If not, Idaho would be nice.
Plus, if the PAC doesn’t grab San Jose State, there is still that…
Not to mention Utah State, Nevada and UNLV (gotta wonder why the PAC doesn’t gamble on Vegas right away)

Why did the Vandals move down to FCS? Do they have a desire to move back up?

What exactly has NDSU done to make yourselves attractive to an FBS conference? Neither state has enough people to be attractive. The Fargo dome, while you are proud of it and should be, looks like the old arena in Sioux Falls. It is dated and can't be expanded. Your basketball program has needed investment for years. FBS doesn't care how many championships you have won. They want eyeballs to sell advertising and facilities to show that you give a shit and are capable of keeping up with the Jones's. Hopefully SDSU's investment in their facilities including football is enough that a conference will consider allowing NDSU to follow SDSU into the next level.
NDSU has a G5 level IPF with a 50k SF operations building, a remodeled basketball arena with a 100k SF addition, a brand new softball stadium, a brand new outdoor track stadium and the best baseball field in the conference. A Wrestling training facility is in the works as is upgrades to our soccer field
And the Fargodome is getting a $100 million dollar upgrade, pending the vote on November 5th

Good to see that nobody is falling for the "NDSU and SDSU to the Pac-12" satire stuff that is all over twitter right now.

Yeah that makes as much sense as pissing in a sock. Why stop there? Let's just join the SEC! LOL

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I will say I’m not very impressed with Jay’s tweet this morning. Multiple group chats with all the people I know in the collective are saying they plan on stopping their contributions unless it turns out that he was right.
Not a good look

If they were contributing before the tweet this strikes me as quite an over reaction. But it’s their money they can not give it to whoever they please.

Got to agree with audit on this one.

Maybe, maybe not but I agree with the frustration that his MO is touting access and insider info and then appears to be trolling everyone with fake insider info

NDSU and SDSU were proposed by the guy that originally broke the story.

I’m pretty sure his motivation is helping the program. Seems like it took a fair bit of convincing for him to take on this role in the first place. Perhaps folks should be a bit more charitable in their characterizations.

Feel free to point out where I’ve said anything incorrect or unfair. I’ve been very complimentary and thankful for the job he does and the work he’s done to this point. It’s an unfortunate situation that hopefully resolves itself with an official announcement in the coming days.
As you said people are free to spend their money how they wish unfortunately. My point is that in my limited circles there’s considerable frustration, I genuinely hope that’s not widespread.

Jay does a lot for NDSU athletics and has been a great spokesman for the collective, I think he deserves some slack in regards to that tweet.

Yeah, no shit …
Didn’t he say his motto is act like your FBS and you will eventually be FBS? Isn’t that what he’s doing? This would be a lame reason to pull your support. Looks to me like most of the complainers on twitter are from the hockey school
Texas State hosting ASU on ESPN. Imagine NDSU hosting KSU in the dome. Would that not be wild?

Re: A new and better FBS thread
either way i'm looking forward to a possible home/away with the Duquesne Dukes. Lets get that scheduled and not worry about any FBS possibilities. That would be marvelous.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
We should just schedule a bunch of crap and then lose to all the other dakota schools.
Colorado sucks.

10 years from now we will be playing Shithouse Falls Community College for the National Championship with record low attendance.

I don’t get the pessimism. Must be a Nodak thing. Athletic has NDSU at the top of the list – NDSU, SDSU, UM/MSU, UTEP, NMSU, Idaho, Sac State. Guessing they’re a little more enlightened on the subject than mcfeely ...
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/576...ta-state-utep/
This will all sort itself out in due time, but it seems obvious to me that NDSU wants this. Hoping they can swing the cash

Well thats a ridiculous reason to stop contributing. As others have said, Jay is usually pretty careful with what he posts/sends out.

This is my big concern. Increased state support will be a no go, so all the cash will need to be firmly committed for any chance to move forward. Reminder to all that NDSU just went through the most painful reductions likely in its history. Dr. Cook will face blistering criticism both internally and externally if in any way this would appear to cost the University more money.

Ah! I see the tweet now: Jay Bartley on X: "Now that @NDSUathletics is going FBS, we have some catching up to do on the NIL side. Join the @GandGCollective today! Compete!" / X
For myself, I thought he was referring to all the "NDSU to Pac-12" stuff that was making NDSU trend yesterday - you know, in a humorous way. Maybe he should've put it in purple? The Pac-12 still needs to add at least two schools to get to the 8-program minimum so I guess I'm saying that there's a chance.e I really, really hope Hawai'i is one of the programs that Pac adds to get to Pac-8+.
Even thought the Mountain West got looted, I'll believe that NDSU is in the FBS when we play our first game.

At least two more. I don't think that going with the bare minimum is going to be attractive to a conference that just lost 10 members.
Looking at the replies to Jay's tweets is hilarious - a lot of angry and confused UND fans.
I found the satirical tweet that may be responsible for stuff: College Football News Daily (@notderrico) / X
Their bio says "Fake News brought to you by @derrico_henrio. You really keep falling for this don’t you?"

I was thinking about this very thing today. I would hope that anyone involved in these conference moves looks at the history of viewership numbers when NDSU plays on national TV. I know that comparing playoff games and one-off games against the likes of CO are not apples to apples when comparing UTEP vs WKU on a random Saturday but you can't tell me NDSU's numbers don't speak to the argument of media market and eyeballs.

Look at where Sac State and UC Davis play their basketball games. They aren’t going to the mountain west.

That sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it? Their initial reaction is to get the state to prevent NDSU from moving if we were to get an invite. Didn't UND try to get the State to interfere with our move to D1?

For academics, yes. They’re a decade away from the facilities being ready and at least a generation away from having stakeholders willing to spend that money on athletics.

Yeah they just basically handed over that money for the Fargodome renovation eh. Lol.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
They don't have the support. The state is stupid and funds more then one school with no population. See Wyoming eh.
