I was saying wouldn't it be cool for NDSU to get those votes on a yearly basis?

Would one of you FBS guys please tell me how playing some crappy MAC or Mountain West school in the middle of the week would be so exciting. Serious question. How is Toledo any different than playing Missouri State? Paint me a picture. I don't get it.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Cheney Wa to Frisco 1869 miles
Newark DE to Frisco 1422 miles
Two teams with nowhere near the following as NDSU bringing what they can to a NEUTRAL site game nowhere near their campuses.
These MAC games are are home games located on campus, many on national TV, and they still can't draw even half full stadiums.

Teammakers should hire us or ndsu athletics . We'd be in a FBS CONFERENCE like mountain west in no time I'd even take Kab1one out to Utah to schmooze, wine and dine the mwc commissioners. Show me the money would be on my name plate a regular Tom Cruise moment.
TOLEDO IS FBS. What's in a name duh. Mountain west doesn't play weekday games so stop with that crap!

FBS games on the schedule generate the most hype. Whether its national media heads who write way more articles on the damned Iowa State win over playoff wins and national championships, perspective from big time school fanbases, coaches & players.. or whatever.
Yea it's cute for the small time folk who get all of their jollies from it, but please, don't spew that crap on in this thread because you have that problem.
This. Students don't know who we play or care at this point.a lot of people on bv suffer from the same d2 illness my dad suffers from. People remember the old days of playing st cloud and mankato and can't comprehend the idea of playing big boys instead of teachers colleges (nothing against teachers).
You want the brand to grow you move up. Graduates will give money if they know ndsu is moving onto a new challenge. This league is pud.

Who are these big boys we'd be playing? P5 will never happen so who?

Weird, we brag about MVFC teams occasionally beating MAC schools. This year was great for the Valley in that regard.

Many P5 apparently want to be playing FCS games for SOS purposes soonish.
Most fun I've had at a Bison game was at the first two Gopher games(we didn't know better at the time) and K State game. That game meant 10x more than any of the title games. I can actually recall a former Bison(won't disclose) referring to another Bison's(won't disclose current or former) actions before the K State game saying something along the lines of "Why would you do that before the biggest game of your life?"
Right now we are playing teams I had never heard of before the D-1 move. I want the school I will graduate from in May to play against schools I actually know about. Teacher's colleges are the equivalent to our Mayville and Valley. No thanks. Time to go!

Gophers and K State are P5 programs. You FBS guys only think about BYU and Boise type programs outside the P5. They are the exception. Fact is, most FBS programs outside the P5 are "pud" by your definition. Wyoming is pud. Craig Bohl is pud with a pay raise. It's embarrassing that some think tonight's "big game" was big time. Look at the limited finances and quit listening to pud knockers who think there are these whales out there who are going to throw millions at NDSU football. Until Kab lathers and strokes potential benefactors (with fine wine of course) and Chapo's wife lets him woo the newly divorced Mrs Hamm, it ain't gonna happen. I say your dad is a man I'd respect.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
One other thing. The typical NDSU grad or supporter values wealth and will work hard for it. We are not some gay ass liberal arts college like Concordia. You find me an engineer, farmer, agribusinessman or pharmacist that doesn't know the value of the dollar. A man/woman worth ten million who donates a million to an endowment is a fucking idiot IMO. Give it to a charity, the church or help out kids and family. I will give two grand here and a grand there to my alma mater, but I won't spend one cent that would hinder my ability to buy land for my son or set him up farming. I'm small time, but you people who think others should pay the way need to realize this is the attitude of the typical NDSU man. If you don't support TM or are some little college kid, shut the fuck up. I see these types talking about the "big boys" and FBS when it comes to football on this forum. Well, the big boys are the ones who actually financially support Bison athletics (at any level or $, those that give what they can afford). Some of you need to quit telling me and other TMs to carry your load. Step up or shut up.

Can't disagree with any if this.
I've seen lakes wine and dine ncaa president mark emmert, I can easily see him smooth talking mwc presidents and ad's to let ndsu in their conference.
Toledo and their aerial assault attack coming to Fargo? Have we ever seen such an explosive offense? Aren't you tired of unproven puds like costal and unh coming here and saying how great they are despite playing nobody worth a shit?
At least Toledo is battle proven on a weekly basis.
This city lost its load when southern miss came here for one bball game. Same will be done for Akron. Hosting k state is still remembered.
If ndsu can make this weekly instead of once a year., then we have something going on here.

Off games we all have them. They're usually at or near the top in total offense

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Yes, that would be fun. It would also be rare for a conference foe in the MAC, WAC, OR Mountain West to be nationally ranked!

They were 50th in passing going into yesterday. Now running the ball, they do that well. But I figured somebody as well versed in MAC football like you would know that.

OMG what an idea!!!!!!
Sam I am sure with you and Blowhorns vast fund raising experience the 2.7 million raised by TM this past year would be a paltry sum.
Your experience as the Bingo Chairman at the local Moose Lodge should be invaluable in future fund raising activities. Not to mention your already close working relationship with TM in the past. I believe you were on the committee for interpretation of tailgating rules and there implementation were you not? You also were a volunteer liaison between TM and the local car removal service if I am not correct.
Those experiences should serve you well.
Then you have Blowhorns resume which even though short on fund raising activities he does deal with the youth of the FM area everyday for 4-5 hours. What a solid representative to build NDSUs fan base. Plus with him in your hip pocket 24-7 I am sure you will impart some of that fund raising accume from your vast knowledge on that subject. Your idea of the fund raising thermometer is absolutely brilliant!
I can just imagine the doors that will open for you when NDSU and TM find out about your interest in this position.
If I may I would like to offer a suggestion if its ok? I would first start off with a move to the BIG TEN. I know its not the SEC but it is in our recruiting foot print and it would be a stepping stone. Am I shooting too low? But I will defer that decision to you as You are the expert in these matters.
If I can be of any help please do not hesitate to call. 77 OU812.

I respect the hell out of my dad. But he is content to play in this division probably forever because it's a higher level than when he was young.
This is stale. These teams are lame. I quit playing a video game as soon as i have nothing left to accomplish. Its time to go.
P.s. Wyoming is pud but at least they have the balls to play ball with the big dogs.

I love how you compare video games to real life. I see you have some valuable life experience to draw upon.

No one here has the type of life experience to draw upon as far as an FBS move goes.
Honestly, you are probably like 40? Too late for you to see the light if you haven't already.

For the record, I'm not dead set against moving to FBS. I just would want NDSU to be able to do it successfully...and lots of things need to happen/change before that could take place.

Hmm must be late 30's. Have your mind made up soon, once you are 40 you won't be able to change it again.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Who posted that Boise State was irrelevant? The selection committee has them ranked 20th and they were selected for a quality bowl game. With 2 losses, this would never have happened during the BCS era. As ESPN correctly pointed out, the new system affords more opportunity for the group of 5 conference teams. NDSU can be the next Boise State.

You don't know what you are talking about. Research the criteria and get back to us. FYI, it would have been Marshall except they crapped the bed. There's room for ONE G5 team. Yippee!!!!!!

How does that make Boise relevant? The G5 gets 1...one....ONE...UNO...team into a guarenteed New Years day bowl. Being ranked 20th makes Boise just as relevant on the FBS scene as NDSU was when we were receiving votes. The new system doesn't give anything to the G5 teams other than a new years bowl. And thats one team. They have zero chance at the playoff which means zero chance at a national championship. The things you are saying is like saying the SWAC is relevant in the ovaral picture of FCS football.
Would you like another straw to grasp at?

Well duh, Lakes confirmed that the only teams that will ever win a national title are the SEC teams or FSU.
Too lazy to look the post up right now.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
80% of the teams in the power conferences HAVE NO CHANCE OF WINNING A NATIONAL TITLE. Obviously, that is not the standard for being in DI because, if it was, NDSU would have NEVER left DII.

You are wrong as usual. The SYSTEM allows EVERY team in a power conference a chance to be selected for the playoff. Quite simply, if they win the conference they have a high probability of getting selected for the playoff. Any failure to do that is THEIR problem with how they run their program. The G5's problem is that the ENTIRE SYSTEM is set up to keep them out. Winning the MWC "might" get you selected for a New Years Day Bowl as long as you are ranked higher than all the other G5 Champs. That's it. If you can't see the difference (and it huge) then your ignorance cannot be overcome.
