Greg Reid our verbal from Wisco is ranked the 10th best Wisco recruit this year on the homepage of Wisconsinpreps.com.....the top 7 are going to the Big 10, 6 going to Wisco, the 8th and 9th are going to Central and Eastern Washington. It still doesn't list Greg as a Bison verbal on that site as it hasn't updated in a long time.
Looks like another possibility on a Minnesota kid: I would guess we have a legit shot at this athlete:

Sounds like we got a CB out of Michigan. Hallstrom had it on the news at 6.

CB Bobby Miller 5'11 180lbs. Muskegon, MI.. Also offered by Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan. Rated the 8th best CB in Michigan by Michigan Preps. Given 2 stars by rivals.com. Runs a 4.47 40. Leading scorer on basketball team.

Nice! Muskegon is one of the most storied high school programs in the nation. As for Miller, it sounds like he plays forward on his BB team so I'm guessing he has some vertical. He also had the fastest 40 among DBs at the Chicago Nike Combine last spring.Quote:

We need some bodies at that position, we need some recruits, we need some depth, we need some players learning the position and the playbook like Mertens has been doing. That is my opinion. But based on the fact that we lost relatively few to graduation and that we already have 12 verbals to date, I for one am becoming increasingly nervous that there aren't going to be any QBs on signing day. I hope and pray that my concerns are unwarranted.
I'm pretty certain that we will see a QB on the list Feb 6th.

Daniel Eaves last year was a recruit that played QB in high school but the coaches moved him over to the defensive side of the ball because we were short at that position due to injuries. Also keep in mind at the FCS level we can get transfers from FBS schools in the next couple of years. Let's just see how this class turns out before going on another big rant :ranting:.Quote:

We have gotten some good players from Texas. Didn't we have 3 or 4 back out over the years? I don't know if it's true or not but it seems like guys from the northern half of the US tend to stick around longer. I think it's weather related.Quote:

Its pretty tough to make an impact when nearly half of this list was redshirting last fall.
The cornerback from Michigan, Bobby Miller has some impressive stuff on rivals. Appears to be a very solid get. We don't get many two star kids. I know Reid from Wisco was as well.....welcome to his Dad on this board by the way!!!

My point is that Bohl and company have not much obvious success in recruiting a QB. Mertens is the only talented QB in his 4+ yrs as a recruiter here. You cannot convince me that he has been the only QB of his level in the recruiting footprint of NDSU. We have roughly 12 days to see if they can turn it around.
In all fairness, Staus was a very good QB. He owned numerous records, helped us beat Montana as a D2 team, and was a great passer. He just happened to have a younger guy named Steve Walker on the bench behind him. Bohl clearly has an eye for talent because it takes some balls to bench a BCS transfer from Northwestern for a redshirt freshman.Quote:
