The gist of the article though is they are looking to schedule an easy W to offset more SEC games.
The odds are near zero they ever play NDSU as either an FCS or FBS team.

They did have an indoor toilet with cistern water so it was usually just us kids using it when multiple families were visiting.

You never know where a long thread will go but this one went right in the crapper..

Hammer recognized the sock on the door handle trick
MWC.... Let's face facts, NDSU has been dominant for 10 years, fanbase better than any MWC team outside of Boise State... the MWC just doesn't want lil ol north dakota st school coming in and being top dog day 1.
we might as well just admit the obvious

Re: A new and better FBS thread
You do have a vivid imagination..I will give you that.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I'm with Chapo on this one. Every G5 conference knows that NDSU will be one of the top teams (if not the top team) and they don't want to be shown up by a "D-II/JV" team.

Well ... lakes does like to talk shit
When the FBS playoff expands in the very near future, TV money will decide everything and FB success, or the potential for it, will be what matters most.

If you and Chapo are correct, then I suppose NDSU is FCS for life, and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
If so, we might as well enjoy Frisco and winning more titles.
I believe it's as simple as the logical places (MWC, MAC) don't have any openings right now. When Boise St goes B12, I think that opens the door.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I would like to know your view on how NDSU would do in MWC Football yearly if joined? Who would constantly give us problems outside of Boise State? Can we hang with Boise? Your team is Nevada, correct? How would they do against us? Keep in mind we're very successful against not only G5 but P5 FBS with only 63 schollies. Be nice to hear outside opinions.
Post is for MWC

Re: A new and better FBS thread
The MW brought in Boise knowing they would be the top football program from day 1. That was the whole idea. If NDSU moved up you would be FBS. No shame in losing games to an FBS school. The MW schools want to compete. You being really good would be expected and welcomed. Why add any school, otherwise.
However: The MW already has 12 football schools. Their tv deal runs until 2026. They don't want to split the pie any further. The conference already has a football only member in Hawaii who pays for that slot. Usually around 800 to 900 grand for 4 home games.
Your non football programs don't move the needle at all so you would have almost no chance for an all sports invitation.
I realize it makes some of you feel better by claiming G5 schools are afraid of you. It is good message board fodder though I think you know that isn't the case.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
I think you would do fine. It is a fun and competitive conference. Almost every year, most MW shools schedule at least 1 FCS game and 1 or sometimes two P5 games. But for all it is 11 FBS matchups every season. It is one thing to win an occasional game against FBS programs. It is another thing to face FBS week in and week out.
You would have extra scholarships which helps but so do all the other FBS schools. It will not exactly be the easy peasy breeze some here imagine it will be.
It is hard.
As for Nevada, they just got a new head coach and the old one took a whole lot of returning starters with him to his new gig. The Pack will likely have a down year or 2. You would have a good shot at beating them. However, in normal seasons it would be a stern test every time.

There's a lot of truth in this post and it hits the main points of why the MWC isn't really looking at us. Conference membership is so much more than having a good football program.

Montana, Bozeman, NDSU, SDSU, Idaho, Sac, UC Davis, Weber I believe was my original pitch. New Mexico State is joining a conference next year I believe, else them and possibly Wyoming?

Starting new conferences is hard. The biggest hurdles would be getting NCAA auto-bids, FBS status, and inclusion in bowls and CFP.
Can't see Wyoming leaving the MWC for a startup conference, given current payouts.
Idaho just dropped down to FCS from the Sunbelt, don't think they could make the financials work.

Idaho would prob still be FBS if they were in a western FBS conference like the WAC. The sunbelt kicked them out but the travel expenses didn’t help. Wyoming would never leave unless kicked out of the mountain west. They married up by getting in that conference!

The biggest hurdle is getting the NCAA to change the rules to start up a new conference to go FBS.

Aren't hurdles a standard size? It's not like they get bigger. They don't have a giant hurdle at the finish line. Never got that one.

Wyoming was a founding member of the original WAC. They were a founding member of the MW. No marrying up involved.

yes. NDSU admin really F'ed this up. Think about it, if NDSU made a push to.get into MWC same time Bohl went to Wyoming.
just imagine the Rivalry that NDSU vs Wyoming would've generated!!

It would have been a 1 sided rivalry... WE are the only ones who cared. They could've cared less about that. Unless we walked in and made it a whale of a game and whooped them.

I think that's one of the easiest parts. The NCAA would almost certainly lose yet another anti-trust lawsuit if it went that far, and Liberty has already called their bluff on it.

Liberty was going to play the religious card and the 2A wanted none of that after getting their ass handed to them.
But if you are going to challenge the 2A on their bullshit rules now would be the time to do it.

Are you saying Craig Bohl would have promoted adding NDSU to the Mountain West?
And that he would have convinced Wyoming to promote adding NDSU?
Really???
Because if you aren’t saying that, what chance did NDSU actually have of Mountain West membership - if even Craig Bohl wasn’t in favor of it……

Gene Taylor liked the idea and it still didnt happen.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
It is doubtful you would have been added then. When Boise and San Diego State left for the Big East, the MW backfilled with SJSU and Utah State to get back to 10. Then when BSU and SDSU came back the conference had 12 football schools.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
craig bohl doesn't make decisions ADMINS do. NDSU admin should've been pushing behind the scenes HARDER from 2011-2013 .
just a colossal mistake , because that ADMIN actually had the BALLS to do something. this AD doesnt.

All dead air on the gamecast will be filled with NDSU to FBS talk & speculation!

Jesus Christ ain't getting NDSU into the MWC. That's why Fargo is located where it is. To think Craig Bohl has any weight makes me LOL even harder at all this.

Wow who let WY sit at the big kid table? Honestly outside of the Josh Allen era what has Wyoming really done with their program? They are lucky Montana State has held the Griz back at the FCS level because their program was much more successful than worst team in the MWC …..WY
