If you and Chapo are correct, then I suppose NDSU is FCS for life, and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
If so, we might as well enjoy Frisco and winning more titles.
I believe it's as simple as the logical places (MWC, MAC) don't have any openings right now. When Boise St goes B12, I think that opens the door.
I would like to know your view on how NDSU would do in MWC Football yearly if joined? Who would constantly give us problems outside of Boise State? Can we hang with Boise? Your team is Nevada, correct? How would they do against us? Keep in mind we're very successful against not only G5 but P5 FBS with only 63 schollies. Be nice to hear outside opinions.
Post is for MWC
The MW brought in Boise knowing they would be the top football program from day 1. That was the whole idea. If NDSU moved up you would be FBS. No shame in losing games to an FBS school. The MW schools want to compete. You being really good would be expected and welcomed. Why add any school, otherwise.
However: The MW already has 12 football schools. Their tv deal runs until 2026. They don't want to split the pie any further. The conference already has a football only member in Hawaii who pays for that slot. Usually around 800 to 900 grand for 4 home games.
Your non football programs don't move the needle at all so you would have almost no chance for an all sports invitation.
I realize it makes some of you feel better by claiming G5 schools are afraid of you. It is good message board fodder though I think you know that isn't the case.
I think you would do fine. It is a fun and competitive conference. Almost every year, most MW shools schedule at least 1 FCS game and 1 or sometimes two P5 games. But for all it is 11 FBS matchups every season. It is one thing to win an occasional game against FBS programs. It is another thing to face FBS week in and week out.
You would have extra scholarships which helps but so do all the other FBS schools. It will not exactly be the easy peasy breeze some here imagine it will be.
It is hard.
As for Nevada, they just got a new head coach and the old one took a whole lot of returning starters with him to his new gig. The Pack will likely have a down year or 2. You would have a good shot at beating them. However, in normal seasons it would be a stern test every time.

Montana, Bozeman, NDSU, SDSU, Idaho, Sac, UC Davis, Weber I believe was my original pitch. New Mexico State is joining a conference next year I believe, else them and possibly Wyoming?
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?![]()
Starting new conferences is hard. The biggest hurdles would be getting NCAA auto-bids, FBS status, and inclusion in bowls and CFP.
Can't see Wyoming leaving the MWC for a startup conference, given current payouts.
Idaho just dropped down to FCS from the Sunbelt, don't think they could make the financials work.

When you play football, you gotta like the taste of blood, And 50 percent of the time, it's your blood.
You don't give out trophies for losing. Trophies for sucking. That's a communist idea. You don't get a trophy for losing. You get a piece of pizza and you shut up. Trophies for losing? What the hell happened to us?
