And the major would fit with NDSU.
Two more verbals according to the forum.
http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm?id=189520
Joe Lund - 6'-2" 275 lb. Center from Bloomington Kennedy
Isaac Kolstad - Safety from Mankato East
good deal....its seems liek forever since we've had some verbals...any info on these guys?
I remember when we went to the SFA game in Texas. We talked with some of the parents that were there and there were obviously some from Texas. We asked one of parents (don't know who) "What about the cold?" And she said, "He went up there during the coldest part of the year and it didn't matter to him. He just loved it." Bottom line: I think the weather factor is slightly overrated.
Hallstrom said tonight on WDAY sports that the Lund kid's coach said he had B10 talent but was an inch or two too short. Illinois State, N. Iowa and SDSU all offered him.
I think we have about a dozen verbals now and, alas, no QBs. I am a just a tad nervous about that.
Don't know much about Kolstad but Lund is a great pickup! He's on the Kare 11 all metro team with Bourne-McFarland.. It says he's only a junior? Dan Offerman is on the defensive board. Apparently we've been recruiting Sauer too, who's on the list. The way it looks we could have a ton of great Minnesota recruits on the list. We got 3 already.

I merged the two threads (the other one was the "recruiting radar") - hope that doesn't mess anybody up.
Just a clarification. MN wants him to greyshirt, not walk on. There is a difference
doesn't matter, sauer said he's not interested, he wants a scholarship immediately and thats why he will choose between UNI and NDSU.
Football aside, it's tough to argue with a free education. Who the heck wants to pay off school loans? I do know he would be the 4th player off the KARE 11 ALL METRO TEAM and the 3rd on offense! Check it out http://www.kare11.com/sports/prep/20...o_offense.aspx
Joe Lund - Bloomington Kennedy
Hakeem Bourne-McFarlane - Bloomington Kennedy
Dan Offerman - Roseville
Tim Sauer - ????
He sounds like a kid with good size and knows how to play. He would be a good addition to NDSU:D :D :D.
Updated recruiting information from the Bison Media Blog. I noticed that the last two recruits also had offers from some of the other regional schools!!

i thought we had a DT from NDSCS comin in?????
From the Forum blog: (sounds awesome):
Some of the stuff I was not able to fit in the TV sportscast the other night about the 2 most recent verbal commitments from NDSU.
First of all, to echo Jeff's post, I have it on good authority that NDSU does not have any verbals from junior college kids. They may down the road, but not right now.
Joe Lund (Bloomington Kennedy Center) appears to be one of the better gets of the recruiting season, at least on paper. He's 6-2, 275 and was a KARE 11 all metro first teamer and a first team AP all Stater. If you're not familiar with how Minnesota works, if you're first team all state that means you're one of the top 5 O Linemen in the state. That's pretty impressive when you consider all the kids out there. A couple on that list are going to major college places. His HS coach Dave Frisell says he wanted to walk on to Minnesota or Wisconsin, because the kid believes he can be a Big 10 player, but mom and dad said "Look son, if someone's willing to pay your school for the next 4 years, that's what you're gonna do." Can't blame em. He had offers from all the upper midwest D2's, along with UND, USD, Northern Iowa, SDSU, and Illinois State. Coach says he believes he can definitely play Big 10 football, but those schools were hesitant because of his height. Another inch or two and it would have been a different deal, says coach. Coach says he's extremely athletic, probably the best lineman in the Classic Lake Conference the last 2 years. Says he has a real mean streak and a fierce competitor. In my mind, this is the poster child for NDSU recruiting in the last few years. Find the kids that are just a tenth of a second too slow or an inch two short for the Big 10 and bring em up to Fargo. It's worked well with many of their current kids--I think of Humber, Maresh, Bowman, Schommer, etc. It's also the kind of deal that you get with Hakeem B-M. Just a step slower than what the big boys want. This is also good timing with Lund as Harrington and Septak are seniors next season.
Isaac Kolstad (Safety - Mankato East High School) is a little more under the radar. His coach says he was a marked man on offense this past season so his stats are a little underwhelming. He played TE, Receiver and RB last season just to move him around and give him some better matchups. He leaves the school as the #2 interception guy all-time with 10 picks. He also leaves as the #4 receiver in school history with 39 catches and 5th in receiving yards with 710. Was a 2 year starter and would have played extensively as a sophomore if he hadn't gotten injured. He's 6-2, 210 pounds - pretty good size for a high schooler, certainly good size for a HS receiver/RB. Coach says his instincts are as good as Craig Dahl's was when he played there. He had offers from USD and UND, and returned 2 kicks for TD, one last year and one this year.
The recruiting class to this point - to me - seems solid, but not spectacular. But that's true of this time just about every year. The big names on their list are typically still holding out hope for an FBS offer at this point, and they usually get one or two. They are hoping to bring in 15-16 High School kids and then maybe add a late prepster or a Juco. Jeff's list and mine are the same. 11 commitments so far, so there will probably be 4 or 5 more. Signing day is February 6.
That center sounds like a good get, love the comment about the mean streak and him being a fierce competitor. Bohl definitely knows how to land quality linemen.
yea Sauer is gone. dang
Some time ago I questioned why Kyle Richardson was on the verbal list at the start of this thread since Kolpack quoted Bohl saying that they had no Juco's in sight. No one responded. Now Hallstrom posts this on the media blog
"First of all, to echo Jeff's post, I have it on good authority that NDSU does not have any verbals from junior college kids. They may down the road, but not right now."
It would appear that Kyle has not verballed. I think some administrator should see fit to finally take note and get his name off the list.
About the QB's, I know I saw this a while back, but is QB Matt Muenchow (GSL) still on the Bison radar ? A very good running/passing QB with great speed (reigning 400 meter champ and 4x200 relay champs anchor) and also on the Kare 11 All-metro team, though as a punter. Seems similar to the skills Mertens had coming out of high school. Just wondering if anyone had any updates.

It's a thread about NDSU offers and it mentions that Sauer committed to UNI, also something interesting in there that pleased me greatly was that Jason Obarski, a Punter from Apple Valley high school changed his commitment from UND to NDSU tonight
Speaking of QB's any way we offered Bismarck Century QB Zach Wentz? Or are we looking else where?
Updates:
1. I got rid of the JUCO transfer from the summary post - the summary post is the first one in the thread.
2. I didn't add add Jason Obarski, the K/P from Apple Valley yet - I've never used message boards as proof of anything. That said, I'm almost positive the message board is right this time.
3. I'll be disappointed if Tim Sauer goes to UNI - not only would that mean they were able to steal one out of our backyard, but I think Sauer might have been NDSU's top offensive line recruit. Bah.
Very surprised and disappointed about Sauer verballing to UNI. That one hurts.
Good news on the punter but nobody knows if it's true. Anyone can sign up on these boards and say whatever they like but I'm hopeful.
As far as Sauer goes...I'm not saying he's wrong but the poster doesn't have any credibility whatsoever and it hasn't been mentioned on Northern Iowa message boards. Sometimes people will read a player was offered and will think that means committed. Sometimes they will post stuff and try to predict so eveyone thinks they are the next Mel Kiper or something. :)
Info on the punter/kicker seems legit since he appears to be the one who wrote it. He says he already verballed to NDSU, but also says he is visiting this weekend. It seems a bit bizarre.
The Sauer info may not be legit. We'll have to wait and see.
Is it even possible to go 4 years in a row without a Quarterback recruit? That would ice a very impressive class. Very exciting time. can't wait for signing day. my new favorite...the new punter. He left UND!
I did some digging. It looks like the punter/kicker from Apple Valley didn't punt for his team during the 2007 season. Do we have any official confirmation other than his blog? I could find no confirmation that he had ever received an offer from UND, other than him saying so.
Any official confirmation on Sauer to UNI?
Well just to clear things up being from the Apple Valley area I am really excited about getting a kid from down here, wish we could have gotten Will Jackson from Eastview as well, but you cant get them all, and I am really excited about the two kids from Kennedy, watched them both twice this season and they are very good, but back to the subject Obarski did punt and kick for Apple Valley the last three years, he did both, and he did recieve an offer from UND this is a clip from an article written by Erik Lofdahl of minnesotapreps.com:
"Last night (Tuesday) I received a call from Coach Belmore the wide receivers coach at the University of North Dakota," explains Obarski. "He made me an offer and my parents and I sat down to discuss the offer and other school options I had. Later that night I called back and gave North Dakota my verbal commitment."
I am surprised NDSU has not offered Jarid Jackson (Sam Maresh's LB partner from Champlin Park).
Supposely he has an offer from Concordia, visiting Moorhead St. and St. Cloud state this week. Also considering walking on at the U.
He has interest from NDSU, but word is a few people in front of him have to verbal elsewhere to get the Scholly.
His video is impressive...he is a football player! I think he would be a nice get.
