Re: UND post-game thoughts.
Alright, let's get this over with. I was impressed with the tailgate. It was big, fun, smokey, overall just a good time. It makes me a little sad that UNDs tailgate has gotten so bad since it used to be legit. Hopefully some UND fans get inspired to rev ours back up. Make it a party, like NDSU, and people will come for a good time. I didn't get to make the rounds to meet all of you wonderful people since we didn't get there as early as we had planned so I suppose we'll stop by when UND has their next away game.
The people in section 24 were great. Maybe a little too nice for my taste since I love away games and the shit talk that occurs as a result but everyone was welcoming and pleasant. I was the guy in the green shirt and black hat trying to get the crowd louder on 3rd downs, didn't work.
The pregame atmosphere was really cool, you can tell everyone is invested in making that atmosphere what it is. Get some new video boards for Gods sake. Those things are worthless. The intro was pretty good, I thought the music would be louder, maybe the people were just that loud. The noise level reminded me of the Alerus on 2001. So, ahh, where is the beer? I would have like a couple and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I swear to God, if I see another fucking hockey jersey at a football game im going to snap. It's unbelievable that someone would think that's the best thing they could wear to a football game.
And the game:
Our offense was bad, really bad. I think we have an average offense right now. Throw in the crowd noise and Tanguay and Sheatz and our offensive line playing like ass for a second week in a row and, well, you all saw the result. It's the worst offensive performance I've seen since we had Joey Swag Bradley at QB. I honestly didn't think your defense was THAT good but they did look improved big time from the Montana game and I think that's mostly due to CJ Smith playing. Like I said Tanguay was a manchild out there. Menard also showed his speed off the edge against the run and pass, I think his future is very bright. Basically our offense is lacking the playmakers on the outside needed to challenge your secondary and our OL is either out of sync or just not good enough yet. We've got a YOUNG offense but that's no excuse.
Your offense looked pretty good. I think we let you guys off the hook a few times. We should have blitzed more for one because we were getting in there pretty easily when we did. We also blew a couple easy plays that turned into TDs. The first TD was just a perfect throw, tip the cap. The wheel route and two RJ TDs were two blown coverages and an absolutly stupid angle and overpersuit by the safety allowing RJ to cut it inside for the score. These little things were the difference between our defense holding us in the game and you guys blowing the doors off in the second quarter. The nice thing, for me, is that these are easily correctable. But still frustrating.
You guys have the better more experienced team, which is obvious, but I'm actually not that discouraged. I saw a lot of UND players that could hang out there with the big boys. Ceislak as a FR was slugging it out yesterday and looked the part, he's gonna be good. Rattelle, if he didn't impress anyone yestersay nobody was watching. He's a beast. Reyes is young and made a couple risky errors but had a lot of big time open field tackles. Dranka, for an undersized young guy made some plays. There were a few others but there were also guys like Studsrud, our entire OL, and Brown that just weren't ready or good enough. My hope, is that I can fire the playoff matchup thread back up..... We'll see about that.
Re: UND post-game thoughts.
Did they say this was the 4th largest crowd? Couldnt be possible as this was the most important game ever.
Who were the other three important teams we played?

The North Dakota is Bison Nation at the end of the first one was a nice touch.

Blitz more? What, like during timeouts? Halftime?

Gotta admit that was pretty fun game... for a half
I thought the UND defense looked pretty solid actually. Yeah I know it was 35 points and it could have been 50, but they were on the field alot due to the offense getting killed. Although I think ndsu played it super conservative on offense. The lines were being stacked with defenders and we could have given our TEs record numbers or hit a ton of deep balls had we actually tried on first down. Not sure what our coaches were doing on first down.
I agree on the video boards. Next year we will be getting giant led boards in each endzone which is long long over due.

After these two fouls the Jacks got the momentum and went ahead and scored TDs.
This year with a weak secondary, inexperienced backfied we have a lot to worry.
That bad QB your referencing, was the guy their current QB couldn't unseat even when given the opportunity.
Weinke is as good but not better than Henderson or Jones from UM.
Put CJ on him and give him help over the top. The jacks are going to need more than one weapon.

If you by chance had a dyed white goatee, there with your lovely wife/girlfriend, and sitting in row L you did handle yourself well.

They will be in for next season.
Re: UND post-game thoughts.
I initially thought UND did an excellent job controlling the los, but as the game went on it looked more like they were selling out in space. They ask their dbs to do alot.
UND lb #51 was a boss.
Their offense is really bad. I cannot remember watching a bison game where the opponents offense was that bad.
I have to laugh at all the talk earlier here about our "embarrassment of riches" at the test position. Can we bump that thread? I have been hard on our wr unit, but our te unit is worse.
I like the way we use ur rbs. They all offer something different.
I don't remember a bison team that had so many different freshman contributing.

So what percentage of un_ fans attended their first football game yesterday? I put the number at 15%.
