If I recall several pages back it said Jan 9 was the end of the recruiting dead period. Not set in stone sure however.

Mick Garry(Argus Leader) is reporting on his blog that Matt Kerswill(receiver, D.C. Everest High School, Schofield, WI) has verballed to USD. He had an offer from us.
USD recruits
Tony, you might want to update your NDSU offers list with this info:

Ya I would like to see us get Ben. I don't know why but I just think he could get it done.
I don't know what this means, but Kerswill is not listed on either Rivals or Scout for WI:

Ben was the Gatoraide Player of the Year. Kerswill was a shock offer. But, we did, so we must have thought he had a chance. Good job at USD.
Is the DEAD period over yet or what?!?!?
Chances aren't sounding too good right now.

You never know I just would like to see this kid in the green and yellow. I don't know if he has visited but I would not count us out yet if he still has a visit to us. Hopefully we get him but we will see.
I agree with OldBison and BisonFanatic on this one. Seriously, has he been to Fargo yet? Vermillion is bunk. They are not comparible in facilities, schools, cities...etc. Oh, and we are playoff eligible. WOW.
I expected us to have a GREAT WR class this year. Several WR's coming in with playing time being offered. Hey, they could start for 4 years potentially. I still think we have a Texas angle that is being worked, that we do not know about yet. But, this kid would be huge. Hopefully he gets to Fargo for a visit before signing day.
I believe Ericksen, Kerswill and Hill all visited during the same weekend and were offered during or just following their visits.
Dangit Marlin stop being a reporter and start being a recruiter and get him here!!!:D :D :D ;) ;) ;)
I don't know anything about Illinois State, but why would this kid consider USD over NDSU. If he visited both Vermillion and Fargo I would think that would help straighten him out. Also USD will be in transition purgatory for most of his time there. Even if he is considering pre-med NDSU has something similar. Yeah, I don't get it, play in front of nearly 20,000 at the Fargodome or maybe 5000 at the Dakota Dump.
One possibility is that it may come down to money. In FCS, all scholarship offers are not created equal. He may have received a full scholarship offer from USD and a partial from NDSU.
There are a million other reasons why kids make decisions about schools, and only some of them are rationale. Maybe he prefers a smaller town. Maybe a coach told him that he could start for four years. Maybe he met a girl on a visit. Maybe he didn't get along with someone at SU, or the coach recruiting him hasn't paid enough attention to him. This is part of what makes recruiting high school kids "interesting."
While it is certainly possible that NDSU only offered Erickson a partial scholarship, I seriously doubt it. With Hakeem leaving there is a big hole to fill and my understanding (which certainly could be incorrect) is that Erickson was #1 on NDSU's list. If that is true, given the situation here a partial offer just doesn't make much sense.
But, you make a good point, this young man may just prefer smaller towns. Our WR coach is a terrific guy, can't believe he wouldn't have been paid enough attention.
Granted not all programs are created equal. But having a great program doesnt mean all recruits will like your program. Some times or many times a certain school justs doesnt seem-feel right. You just dont feel comfortable. Now if its the only school that offers then you still might want to go someplace and grow to like it. But if you have choices you dont have to. PL
per minnesotapreps.rivals.com shows that Cooper Wahlo holds an NDSU offer.
Derrick Engel - Chaska MN 4.34 40 yard dash has received preffered walk on at MN, Wisconsin and Nebraska. Holding a number of D2 offers.... Has NDSU offered ?
Sioux Falls LB Jake Weiss, 6'3, 210, who had an NDSU offer, just committed to SDSU.

This one may not be over because Iowa may grab him late if they miss on some other LB's they are recruiting.

Weiss said that he also had scholarship offers from North Dakota State and the University of South Dakota, and that Iowa – where he did attend a summer camp – was still considering a him a contender pending the decision of one player rated ahead of him.
Correct me if I am wrong, but an FCS partial scholarship means only one thing, one half. I believe in DII you can give out all sorts of fractions of a scholarship as long as the total is no more than 36. In DI - FCS only half and full scholarships can be given out with a max total of 63. Hard to belive this kid would have been offered anything less than a full scholarship from NDSU. Likely he just doesn't care to check everything out and too bad because USD has little or nothing over NDSU academically or athletically. NDSU coaches have to convince the kid to at least take an afternoon visit to Fargo.
Well, this is what is so strange to me, quite frankly. One of his co-LB "buddies" Preston Evans is at NDSU. You would think it would be fun to take a LB crew from SD and be heads up crazy good together again in college. Guess not...

Not according to Rivals, whatever that means.
