What like Lakes is some 25 year old or something? His problems aren’t generational. Not that I don’t want him off my lawn, too.

Correct: generational has nothing to do with the feeling/want of entitlement, and or being spoon-fed.

Its entitlement when you put no chips in (which you have admitted to). Also, your position and rants are skewed by the fact that you live vicariously through NDSU athletics because you are missing/or have missed something otherwise important in your life. Only you really know what that is.

Since you've been told to keep the FBS banter here, you just might not want to keep making it so unpleasant. Otherwise, you might end up here just screaming to yourself.

yea CAS. that's it. haha dumbest take ever. I've done more than most in this life & grateful for it. but nice unmitigated backhand that's untrue

First off, it's not all good...man. You can't just be a Class A douchenozzle so goddamn always, then say "all good, I'm just frustrated" like you think people will look the other way. You've pretty much used up your 9 lives (you know, like a pussy) around here with the constant hyper-negativity in every thread. You're fucking everywhere on BV, fucking up every thread with your supposed outrage at the state of things. Your takes are usually so far off of reality that it would genuinely be comical but you ruin it by being so pissy. Just shut the fuck up for a bit.
Regarding CAS's comments above, it seems 100% spot on to me and I would guess many others here as well. Even if you don't think it is accurate, please know that you DEFINITELY put that vibe out to the world.
Your online persona is saying something about who you are. Is this what you want to convey to the world?

I know this was posted 2 months ago, but there is a twitter discussion about it yesterday, people want NDSU in the FBS around the country. We gotta stop "chasing trophies" and move up

I am wondering what the pitch is that NDSU will try to convince the MW to invite them..
That article says right out that NDSU would just look at it as a temporary fix until the Big 10 comes a-calling..
Are you asking football only? Are you demanding travel subs..or no travel subs?
Are you asking the MW to waive the entrance fee? are you asking for a separate tv deal with ESPN?
I would guess you wouldn't make any demands but that article makes it sound like the MW would be delighted to have you come onboard..
Maybe it will happen, but what exactly is in it for the MW ? Particularly if all you would be doing is looking to leave..

NDSU would stay Mountain West for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time unless the big 12 needs someone (not the Big 10, that was hyperbole)
NDSU ideally would want Football ONLY, but at this point ALL SPORTS almost looks better for NDSU & MWC
We don't need travel subs, we aren't POOR
MW can keep the entrance fee, TV statewide/regionally is important for NDSU but can work with ESPN for a hybrid deal somehow or simulcast
MW would have a nationally recognized FOOTBALL program on par with Boise State.

NDSU and the attention they get trickles down to entire FCS and MVFC.

That's what happens when you try to take an article written by some guy who gets paid $1.00 for every 1,000 page views and has a whopping following of 300 followers on twitter even remotely serious.

It should be noted that Boise had the 6th best record in the MW last season..I would guess you could be on par with that..

I know..It was a silly puff piece. While I don't think the MW is looking to expand, even if they lose a member or 2, it wouldn't happen until the tv deal is up in 2025..The conference is not splitting the small pie they have into any more slices..

Re: A new and better FBS thread
yes we have acknowledged that this was just a fun article and the writer saying NDSU to big 10 was strictly for clicks.
try and follow along und2 fan...
MWC. Ha Boise had a down year, surprising, maybe Chris Peterson recruits leaving had something to do with it.
NDSU should fly down & sit in an office with Craig Thompson or a Golf Course and say:
NDSU would do Football Only & Pick up Hotels/Flights for 5 MWC games for 1st 3 seasons.
NDSU would take a smaller share on ESPN TV revenue if we can keep our regional/statewide tv deal in addition to ESPN.
Put a $10 Million exit Fee for 10 years on NDSU.
NDSU would play 1 Conference game at US BANK Stadium per year showcasing MWC teams in the 2 million Metro area
.Boom signed.

Still not seeing the upside for the MW..The conference has contracts with CBS and Fox..A special deal for you with ESPN would not be welcomed. The MW already has games in large metro areas. Hawaii pays a subsidy for every home game every season. 5 games over 3 years won't get you in..
Is the MW responsible for facilitating NDSU's ambition..? The MW didn't take on Boise until 2011 after they had been FBS for 15 years. This is not a desperate or unstable conference.. They can afford to be choosy and can ride out any defections..
You have a an excellent football program but almost zero history with any of the schools in the MW..They have all been playing each other for decades..That means something..

well the other problem is MWC won't invite NDSU because NDSU would be the top dog day 1 and your members/coaches/presidents won't like that.
sad but true I guess , but it's the same reason NDSU can't get FBS games anymore. SoftGeneration ... sigh.

That is where you are wrong..The MW has a history of adding schools who have the potential to be the top dog right away..Boise and TCU were the top mid majors in the country and better than all the MW teams in football.
While I, personally don't think you would be the top dog there are other factors at play here. If the MW wanted you they would have invited you already..If it makes you feel better to think there is some sort of fear or conspiracy set against you have at it.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Suppose just for yucks that the "top 45" of the P5 split off into a premier D1 conference with their own playoff.
Going off Sagarin – and assuming that Boise, NDSU and Airforce don’t make the cut – what would become of the G5 plus the P5 dregs (and there are several from multiple P5s that wouldn’t make the cut, not just the Big12).
They’d likely follow suite and say, "OK, we’re going to make our own FBS league out of the next 65 teams, with our own playoff and bowl games". This would then be the clear "second level" of D1 CFB. The only FCS teams remotely in contention would be NDSU, SDSU, both Montana’s, Mo State and maybe SIU, and this assumes that a decent chunk of the G5 accepts relegation to the third tier (FCS), which is highly doubtful (sorry, but EWU is not next-level material).
So, in other words, move up now or later, it doesn’t really matter for NDSU, and it does nothing to change the extremely improbable "promotion" of the entire MVFC to what would become the second level of D1 CFB.
Even in this radically realigned CFB landscape, NDSU is still the only FCS team in position to move up. Food for thought ...

Ya I can see that
I just don't know why ANY Bison Football fan wants to stay & do the same thing that we've done for 10 years ..... Don't you strive to see JUST HOW BIG NDSU FOOTBALL COULD BE?
we are holding it back, and it's losing fans, losing interest and losing momentum
the time to go is NOW.

How many times have I heard the expression on 1660 or here at Bisonville that NDSU is the only FCS school in a position to move up, while simultaneously watching other FCS teams move up and move past us? We've settled into a smug complacency by excelling in the FCS. When others move up (like JSU or SHSU), we mock them as unprepared for the move. We've got the arrogance, complacency, and lack of vision of UND in the early 2000s. I hate it.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Montana and Montana State are both positioned to move up at an equal or greater level to move up than we are. They have stadiums that can expand. They have fans showing up. I say this as an FBS or bust kinda alum. I hope we jump at the first chance we get. We belong there. We'll never win a title. We might make a fun bowl though.

Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Kansas, Arizona will NEVER ever win a title either, but they are up there as well as 50 G5 colleges. maybe they should all go down to fcs.
face facts FBS is where the major college football world is at

Schools like Kansas and Arizona are not what we should aspire to for football
Being a total loser on a bigger stage is not impressive.
Part of reality here is that $$$, alumni and fanbase size drive conference alignments.
As much as we would like to think we belong somewhere based on competitiveness, wins and losses, its not that simple.
People who want to see us jump should be doubling down on Teammakers and season tickets.
Boise St, Houston, UCF are the role models of success.

We'll get to it soon. Just got done with taxes. Have to let the dust settle.
One does have to wonder about Bowlsby's timing for stepping down. There will be P5 infighting now for next decade, and the Big 12 will have to fight the hardest.

$$$, alumni and fanbase size? We're already there, where have you been? Ask anybody in the CFB world, NDSU's football program is a high-performing G5 school by all accounts other than its geography. Is blowing the doors off a subdivision full of teachers' colleges and 6 small state flagship universities impressive? Screw Kansas' FB program, but I'd gladly switch places with any other FB program listed.
Let the "Normal" schools have their subdivision back. We're only here because we didn't successfully jump to FCS when we already belonged in the 70s/80s. It's NDSU's time to enter the main stage. It has been for a while now.
It is a shame that the 2013, 2017, 2018 and 2019 teams weren't able to play a full FBS schedule with multiple P5 opponents.
