Klieman lost us the semifinal against JMU. The Bison were starting to gain momentum and he made the decision to attempt a 50 yard FG. The kick was missed and momentum swung back to JMU. Should have pooch punted and pinned them deep and let our defense get after them.

I agree with Chapo, on this one. Their game plan won't be much different than the last semifinal. They will piss-pound the box and dare us to beat them with the pass. If we don't, we won't win.

This is so very true! The long missed field goal was a mistake, but NDSU didn't make any offensive changes when the run clearly was being stuffed. Polisek was a genius against Iowa earlier that year, but thought any FCS team could be overpowered with our run game alone. Sound familiar? Many fans and Roehl think that way this year. The issue is the last four FCS teams are good enough to beat some pretty good FBS teams. Not going to win with some simple game plan. Need to mix in some short to medium passes including screen passes, short to medium passes to TE, short passes to FB, etc.

By this time, in 2016, injuries had taken its toll..... no Nate Tanquay and no Nick De luca on defense. Can't remember if the offense had any key injuries, but whtever. The players that had beaten 13th ranked Iowa (at that time) weren't all the same players that lined up against JMU .

You are right. I should've said Klieman and Polasek. Polasek didn't adapt his playcalling to the game. Just kept bashing that big ol' hard head against a brick wall.

There is no way there isn't some gadget plays, throwing plays, etc. with QP in the game. Make the other team prep for what you have put on tape and hopefully spring a big play with a variation of it.

I liked when they had both in the game. We're getting thin at running back so we'll need some extra explosiveness on the field. With all 3 QBs having some running ability, not a bad idea to have all 3 in on a play or 2. Having 3 guys who can throw and run is unique and Cole being a lefty can probably throw it better rolling to the left

Is it diversion really when the same silly argument was made to start Stick over Wentz as is being used now to say QP shouldn't take any snaps during a game? To me the parallels seem very close.

Blaming QP isn’t really all that silly. I was never that great at football in high school, but I was the backup QB in my 9 man team. Whenever I got into a game I would call out the snap in my usual cadence, and within a couple plays the defense was shouting out “be ready for the quick count!”

It’s a perfectly reasonable assumption to think that if it was reversed, and the offense was used to going on a quicker cadence, that it could be a reason for a false start when the QB with the slower cadence comes in. It’s also perfectly reasonable to expect any players on the field to be used to the difference in cadence between the two QB’s.

Again---Nobody is blaming QP perse for doing anything wrong. Anytime you have an action that requires vocal sounds to start that action and the sounds change
