Man, you strike me as rational. You sure you haven't had one too many pucks to the head?

Good points. I'd like to see the effort by the UND backers be put towards scheduling more FBS schools and even more effort (think filling up the Alerus and traveling better) into beating those FBS schools. Both NDSU and UND playing and hopefully beating FBS schools would do way more for the state, both programs and the universities then a game between two schools not many have heard about.
If a person accepts that as a decent thought, then NDSU has done it's part for the most part. Gameday (2X), Frisco, coverage (radio, TV, etc.), FBS success (K-State being the best example)...we've also done well with track, softball, basketball, Amy Anderson...the list goes on.
I formulated this thought in 1995 as I stormed the field at Memorial Stadium on my way to the goalpost...only to be thwarted by a cop who had mase and didn't appear to be gun shy. It was fun at the time...winning is fun, but it's just time for the UND crowd to think bigger and better. I won't forget the B-52 in Frisco, the guy without legs dropping in with the Bison flag, beating the Gophers 3 times...yes, we beat the hell out of them all 3 times we played them, beating K-State, Georgia Southern in the dome, UNI kicking the hell out of us in Cedar Falls....I wasn't thinking about the Sue any of those times. I'll bet not many who made the trip to Laramie were thinking about a yearly game with the Bison when they whooped the Cowboys. That's what they should be after. It's like they are Chris Farley..."remember when....".
If they want a game with us, work harder and meet us in Frisco. Holy hell...could you imagine the build up to that game?
I hope both play well with zero injuries and that a kid from ND makes a big play or two. Morlock would count in my book.
Great post. Spot on, and wow its tough to remember just how many good moments the Bison have had recently. I was saying the same thing to my father in law the other week, what a blast a UND/NDSU game would be, in Frisco.
Thrilled we finally got our FBS win, too bad it had to be the worst FBS team out there. Can only hope Bubba has us moving in the right direction. Only time will tell.
Here is to a solid game with no injuries.
HotShot you are wrong. What does more for the state (think revenue, think recruiting, think marketing)? A win at Kansas State by the Bison or a win in the Fargodome by the Bison over the Sue?
Yep, Sportscenter's lead story on Saturday will be about the Bison beating the 175th ranked team in Division 1 football.
Have the Sue get better and meet us in the playoffs. Let's continue to play at Kinnick and Oregon and let the Sue play Crookston and whine about us not scheduling them.
You kicked my Sundog
What are the chances NDSu joins FBS soon? I realize this may be opening up a whole new can of worms
UND was not and is not getting into the MVFC unless there is a shift that causes someone else to leave. It was never on the table anywhere at any time. Fan bases or administrations can't force conferences to allow a team to join. Of all fan bases that should know this, you'd think it would be NDSU's, because clearly NDSU would already be in the BIG12.
No, your administration had a chance. If you moved up in 2003, there is little doubt you would be in Summit/MVFC with NDSU, and maybe SDSU and USD would not. Don't forget that.
Reps on the Big 12 purple, though....(except that we are in the B12, UN_ folks forget that too.)
I wasn't particularly excited either way when I found out we were playing UND. But all I'll say is I'm glad we don't have a bye week before the game. This week will be long enough the way it is. Bison 45, Sundogs 13
NDSU does not need UND. Period.
Scheduling UND is an opportunity cost - it prevents a game against a school that might be interesting on a national level.
From my view ... let's move on.
If UND wants to play NDSU again, then make the playoffs.
AND the relationship with SDSU blossomed when USD and UND shit on us. The dynamics would have been completely different. And, honestly, who at the time was more desirable, UN_ or SDSU? It was UN_ by a mile. If a team was left on the sidelines, it would have been SDSU. This is not complicated and you are not being honest with yourself if you don't realize this.
NDSU does not need UN_. But, NDSU needed a 6th home game and this was dirt cheap. No one that would generate national interest would have come for that 6th game without forcing NDSU into a home and home contract.
My point, lets not get carried away. This is a very useful game for NDSU.
UND fans chant Fuck the Bison!
NDSU fans chant Sioux Suck Shit!
Articles and editorials read "Racist chants from NDSU fans".
Pretty much this.
No one will give two shits that UND fans chant 'Fuck the Bison' and no one will give two shits that NDSU fans chant 'Sioux Suck Shit'. There will possibly be articles written locally, but outside that, no one cares. Even locally, it'll be the minority that care.
I don't think I have ever heard anything about the Wisconsin student section and their love to chant 'Eat Shit. Fuck You.' to each other (which they do every game).
I'm excited to do our Podcast by the SPORTSMEISTERS---
I could be wrong on the timing, but weren't we the desperate ones at the time? Didn't we have someone drop us relatively late or couldn't find another game? I remember either Dom or the Forum saying it won't be UND because their schedule was full. Weber said, yeah we will play you, but we need a home game out of the deal. If UND had an open date in '14, they would have had a "chance" at the home and home.
My timing could be off (maybe we needed the home game this year and Weber said only if you come out here in '14), but I swear we were the desperate ones in the situation.
And this...
