My biggest question is who is going to replace Carson as NDSU's QB coach?

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
I think this is a good move. O'Connell is a good coach. The Vikings are loaded and need a good backup. If they do need a backup to play, the team certainly needs someone who can stretch the field.

Like they say, if you're gonna rub somebody, rub them wrong.

Anyone know if he’ll get 11 (currently Brett Rypien)…?

Let's Go! Happy for Carson and the Vikes.

I can't think of a better situation for Carson. Good chance he'll have to play at some point, and in that system and the Vikings personell, I suspect he will do well.

Hahahahaha! That Vikings social media guy who hates NDSU is going to lose his damn mind.

Especially when Wentz takes over as starter and balls out and leads the Vikings to a Super Bowl win! Go Bison!

CW is an intelligent individual; however, it's going to take time to learn the offense. JJ, barring injury, is going to get the snaps. If anyone can learn an offense quickly, it should be Carson. He was his HS's senior class valedictorian, an academic All-American, and got his degree with a 4.0 gpa.

Carson is indeed a bright man with undeniable talents. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if the Vikings occasionally needed him also for dancin' and prancin' with the Cheer Squad. He's got the calves for it.

ESPN’s article points out these possible assists in Wentz learning the Vikings’ offense:
Quote:
…..Wentz had been a free agent since his contract with the Kansas City Chiefs expired in March. The Vikings are his sixth team in as many seasons, but they hope he will be a quick study in their offense after spending 2023 with the Los Angeles Rams, whose scheme is similar to the one Minnesota coach Kevin O'Connell uses. Wentz also played with Vikings quarterbacks coach Josh McCown when both were on the Eagles' roster in 2019……

Would be a great way to end his career. Bonus points if the vikings went to Philly in the playoffs and he lit them up lmao

Jokes on you nfl. I've already got vikings gear. Won't be shelling out big bucks for new Carson gear eh.

I would never buy a jersey with an active player's name. If my current jersey (one of the cheap kinds, not a real jersey) ever wears out I would probably go with a retired player like Foreman or Tarkenton.

I was putting on my 49ers work sweatshirt because my eagles one was so dirty from pea harvest eh. And I thought when i grabbed it and saw my vikings stuff that that ain't for work eh! My kids have jerseys up the ass though. I rocked the 21 49er jersey for years when I was a kid. Even wore it to high school practice. Linemen in a Deon jersey eh!!!

Good lord, wouldn't that be awesome? It would be the comeback story for the ages. Yes, I'm dreaming, but look at what they did for Darnold....

A great sentiment and post (among a bunch of other really good ones) regarding a great development!

the key word here is SUPERBOWL....Vikings and SUPERBOWL have not gone together in 50 years, and if you add in WINNING, it's about as likely as Neil Patrick Harris hooking up with a woman.

This is my rule as well. Legends from my childhood? Yes. Anyone else? No.*
*would create an exception for relatives or players with my last name

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Great opportunity for Carson. Vikings got the best receiving corps in the NFL. Bombs away to Addison and Jefferson. Vikings fans love Justin Jefferson. I went to the Texans preseason game and every time they put Justin Jefferson on the big screen the crowd went nuts. He would walk out onto the field and wave to the crowd or dance around a bit. I'm not exactly sure why the Vikings didn't try to keep Darnold for another year. They are putting a lot of weight on the shoulders of JJ McCarthy. A guy who hasn't even played a regular season game yet.

Too expensive after what he did last year.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
KOC's QB wizardry had ran out with Darnold as evidenced by how he ended last season. I was very glad the Vikings didn't waste a bunch of money on him. Maybe I'll be wrong but I think he'll be the same old pre-Vikings version of himself in Seattle and a clear downgrade from Geno Smith.
If JJ McCarthy flounders or gets hurt the Vikings are a great spot for Carson to make a Darnold-like comeback. Good coach for QBs and a great O-line (if they can stay healthy) along with a very good WR tandem and pass-catching TE.
