Scoring Summary
Brief Description
Back in Fargo, fans were celebrating early as the Bison jumped to a quick 14-0 lead. Unfortunately, Troy State made some adjustments and stopped the Bison run and knocked Jeff Bentrim out of the game. Dale Hammerschmidt came in for Bentrim and engineered the best drive of the second half, resulting in a field goal to give the Bison a 17-15 lead with 1:35 to go. Troy State resorted to the pass and marched down the field to the Bison 33, the only hiccup along the way occurred when a Trojan pass went right into a Bison defender's hands and popped out. Troy State had to scramble to get the field goal attempt off - they didn't get the ball snapped until the clock was down to :01. Ted Clem, their freshman kicker, booted a 50-yarder to win the game and set a school record for longest field goal. You gotta like an ending like that, even if you are a Bison fan.
