    These are the best situations.

    1. They will get you there, may be the next flight, but you'll get there fine.

    2. Because its a case of the seat not being there; due to federal law they have to give you:

1 -2 hour delay: 200% of one-way fare (but no more than $675)
Over 2 hour delay: 400% of one-way fare (but no more than $1,350)

Which is amazing. You get your flight for free + cash on top. However, this is waived the moment people that those vouchers...which everyone does. Take the check.

There had been one time where they overbooked a flight of mine, you got your seat on the next available flight (which in my case was like 3 hours later) and a check for $1,300.

Had that happen to me on the way home from Denver after the Colorado St game back in 2012. They actually had to bump me to the next day (which I thought I remember reading back then you had to get bumped to the next day to get cash compensation) but United Airlines gave me a $1400+ check, a voucher for a room at a 4* hotel near the airport, food vouchers at the hotel restaraunt, and free shuttle transportation from the airport that night and back the next day. It "forced" me to miss a day of work on Monday (how awful) and paid for my entire trip and then some.

After that as I was reading up on it and found out that there are people who intentionally try to book flights like that just to see if they can make some money if no one takes the vouchers.

My United flights were too, the next closest they could get the person to DFW was Saturday afternoon

Your advice, usually, would be quite wise. However, Delta capacity to DFW up to game time will be a gamble. And you know the MSP-DFW direct American flights will also be crammed with Bison fans if they'd be willing to put you on American. For folks traveling, this is one of the few times I'd advise against taking the money. Now, on the way home I'd say take the dough and run......

Weather forecast for most of Oklahoma today is good for anyone driving through. Tomorrow could be a $hit show weatherwise.

For those stopping in OKC for food, would recommend:
Maples Barbecue, 1800 NW 16th ST http://www.maplesbarbecue.com (JUST OPENED before Christmas, was a food truck)
Iguana Mexican Grill, 9 NW 9th ST https://www.iguanamexicangrill.com/
    Nashbird, 1 NW 9th St https://www.nashbirdchicken.com/
    Gabriella’s Italian Grill & Pizzeria, 1226 NE 63rd St https://www.gabriellasokc.com/
    Or
Empire Slice House, 1734 NW 16th St http://www.empireslicehouse.com/

For those stopping in OKC for the night, would recommend best local brews:
Elk Valley Brewing 1210 N Hudson Ave https://www.elkvalleybrew.com/ (JUST OPENED before Christmas in their new brewery space)
Stonecloud Brewing 1012 NW 1st Street, Suite 101 https://stonecloudbrewing.com/ (Might be best beers in town)
Battered Boar Brewing 14700 Metro Plaza Boulevard, Suite E http://www.batteredboar.com/ (Unique, flavorful beers)
Prairie Artisan Ales 3 NE 8th St https://prairieales.com/okc-taproom/ (Stouts and sours are their strong points)
Vanessa House Beer Company 118 NW 8th St http://www.vanessahousebeerco.com/home (Opened just before Thanksgiving)

At least the OKC forecast for Thursday is looking better now than it was a couple days ago. They were saying 3-5" of snow during the day and 1-3" of snow and ice overnight Thursday but now the forecast just says rain during the day and up to an inch of "mixed winter precip" Thursday night. We're driving there Thursday and staying in Moore Thursday night so hopefully the more recent forecast holds or gets even better.

EDIT: It looks like they're still predicting that kind of snow accumulation in the SW part of Oklahoma but central Oklahoma, for better or worse, will be rain and ice.

They issued a winter storm watch for Oklahoma effective from 6PM today until 6AM Friday:

From 6:00pm CST, Wed Jan 2 until 6:00am CST, Fri Jan 4

Action Recommended: Make preparations per the instructions
Issued by: Oklahoma City - OK, US, National Weather Service,
...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...LIGHT FREEZING RAIN, SLEET, AND SNOW. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS UP TO AROUND A TENTH OF AN INCH POSSIBLE. * WHERE...PORTIONS OF WESTERN, CENTRAL, AND SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHERN TEXAS. * WHEN...FROM WEDNESDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...TRAVEL COULD BE VERY DIFFICULT. THE GREATEST IMPACTS ARE EXPECTED WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW, SLEET OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS. &&

    More Information
...WINTER WEATHER POTENTIAL WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY... .WEDNESDAY MAY SEE SOME MINOR TRAVEL IMPACTS DUE TO LIGHT FREEZING RAIN OVER SOUTH CENTRAL OKLAHOMA AND NORTH TEXAS. GREATER IMPACTS ARE EXPECTED ON THURSDAY DUE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA AND WESTERN NORTH TEXAS AND SOME ADDITIONAL ICING ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.

Curious how things will look on Friday as that is when we'll be rolling through OKC. Starting off in Topeka that morning so we can certainly adjust travel times accordingly.

Those are my exact plans as well. Staying in the Holiday Inn Express in Moore. Don't plan on getting there till 1 or 2 in the morning. Just a place to crash for a 5 or 6 hour rest, wake up and roll into Frisco about lunch time nice and hungry.

Looks like it'll be fine by Friday. Winter Storm Watch expires at 6AM Friday morning and the Friday forecast for OKC is sunny with a high of 53.
