Fast food, banks, car dealerships, insurance companies, etc. A good first step would be to set rules with defined consequenses. If they wanted to, they could probably hire 100 people for the entire cost of the FCS playoffs and its chump change to them
It's almost like those in charge of the NCAA (stay with me here, it's not some group of unbiased regulators- IT'S THE MEMBER SCHOOLS THAT WOULD BENEFIT) are OK with this.

There's plenty of cheating that's been going on for decades already with grades, PEDs, etc. How is this any different?

Let the free market work. I'm fine with it.

This is from the NCAA site:

    WHO MAKES THE RULES?
Member representatives serve on committees that propose rules and policies surrounding college sports. Members ultimately decide which rules to adopt – everything from recruiting and compliance to academics and championships – and implement them on campus.

WHAT DOES THE NATIONAL OFFICE DO?

The 500 employees at the NCAA’s Indianapolis headquarters interpret and support member legislation, run all championships and manage programs that benefit student-athletes.

The NCAA is there to enforce the rules. Teams don't punish themselves. There are rules and they are ignored.

Selling cheating as free market is like calling child labor, the right to work

If you want pro sports, make them club level teams. Not state college sponsored because tax payers have no business funding a pro team that pays mediocre football players more than the university president. Its against everything amatuer sports is about.

The easy solution is just stop supporting this version of college football. Alumni and fans getting sick of the high cost of tickets and the entitled attitude of the players could result in a big drop in revenue. Maybe then a change back to what worked would be made. Can't see how paying non professional college students who happen to be athletes more and more money will be sustainable.

You're three weeks into a semester. Does it work academically, for both sides, to come now?

PS - Another truism is shown in there also; namely, no one really want to talk to Mike McF.

I'm afraid that's where we're headed with college athletics. Outside of the big time programs it'll all become NAIA or club sports.

The TV deals say the appetite won't go away. And you're not wrong: What this is becoming is not sustainable.

PS - The car in your avatar ... Hellcat or Demon or standard Charger? Was the photo taken in Marshall County SD? (Your PMs are full or I'd ask this there.)
