Who’s setting the terms exactly? I don’t think it’s players.
    Don't believe everything you think.

On what planet are the players setting the terms? They don't even have a seat at the table.

They get a yearly scholarship that goes away if they leave. It also goes away if the school decides they don’t want to give it anymore.

You want kids signing up for 4 years like it’s a tour of duty? Lol
It wasnt that long ago that many were concerned why the schollies werent for 4 years. They thought a 4 year guarantee was appropriate so schools couldnt pull them if they did produce. How the winds change in a very short time.

Let me guess what your reaction would be if you walked into work tomorrow and your employer tried getting you to sign a similar clawback to stop you from leaving.

As far as “setting the terms” that’s free market, baby. Unless you’re arguing for socialism or something.

People should be able to make as much as they can, as long as I agree with it. Lmao some people

Next I’m gonna hear someone say that they should cap how much a school can be paying their players. We hated D2 because they nerfed our ability to gobble up all the best players. But now we’re a small fish in a big pond we want guardrails. Hmm

So the kid should pay back tuition even though he lived up to his end of the agreement (participate on the team)?

After working for my current employer for several years I got a promotion that was conditional on signing a non compete agreement, essentially where I cannot go to work for a competitor in the same capacity as I do for my current company, for a set period of time. It happens. I'm not even sure how enforceable it is or what the penalty would be. Maybe not the claw back you mean though.

Not that that's at all what I'm advocating for with college sports, just saying.

Poacher either pays a fee to the institution losing the player or else the player repays and the poacher makes the player whole. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Nust covering scholarship $ though is not much comp.
