Nothing that screams “im broke” like bragging about money from a regional industry you probably don’t even work in.

Oil money in ND has had zero impact on or benefit for Bison football.

How can you possibly know that? Oil money = more disposable income for some

For some. I would bet the vast majority of people with "oil money" live in the western part of the state and attend few Bison games.

It is a reaction to the myth that some perpetuate that Bison football has had the success that it has because the State passes on oil money to the program.

Hoople has oil money? Who knew?
North Dakota State, a football team the big boys of college football should avoid like the plague, helped christen a $90 million renovation to Snyder Family Stadium — including a statue of famed Kansas State coach Bill Snyder himself — by taking a sledgehammer to the place.

I've been fortunate enough to only get ”oil" lease money so I'd say at least a portion of that helped me pay for my tickets. Would I have bought without probably but there are more bison fans out there than you'd think. Not all of them are teammakers/season ticket holders but there are many that donate to NDSU (maybe only thru the foundation... But still). Can't say it is zero zero.

Might be the first time a Goofer fan accomplished something.
