I live in Ohio and when I said that we're playing Montana State on Saturday, someone asked if it was the Grizzlies. I had to explain there was another team in Montana and they'd never heard of them.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Montana Tech is more popular after that coach video with all of his sayings emerged a few months ago

NDSU (vs anybody) has gotten the prime ESPN TV spot in the quarterfinals and semifinals for the last 7+ years. That isn't a coincidence. From the 10,000 foot view of the national sports landscape you're right that a very small amount of people care about FCS football but NDSU is by far the biggest name in the FCS when it comes to attracting eyeballs to national broadcasts.

Yes, we are a national brand. How many of those the kitty's have?

Sure you are. That's why they sent your trophy to Grand Forks a few years back....everyone knows right where to find you.

Only thing you guys guys got going for you is being featured on the TV show, Yellowstone. Granted, I'd want Rip on my team:

ESPN only ranked us as the 10th best college football program of all time. I mean, we've only been on ESPN 25 times since 2011 and I'm confident College Gameday would have gone to Brookings South Dakota had they been playing Austin Peay.

True but Bob Green hasn't coached there for almost a decade. He's a hell of a good guy

Maybe if Sac St won they wanted Montana St/Sac St in that Friday night spot that Weber St and Montana were in but it makes no sense that they would shuffle their entire programming schedule on ESPN2 or ESPNU on Saturday.
Good sources withing the MSU administration told me how it went down, By the time the (Rnd 2) game started, we knew it would be moved to ESPN3 on Friday if Sac lost later that night.
